| Pippa is 10 months, spayed, and decided tonight that she'd start humping. She was on my bed, which I don't let her do very often, and she went from laying on my legs to humping them.
I know most people tend to think that humping after being fixed is purely a dominance issue, but I've also read online that it can be an anxiety or stress thing.
What do you guys think?

| A buddy of mine has a female Pitt, not sure if she's spayed or not. But she'll start humping your leg if you're not careful haha |

| It can be excitement, stress relieving, tension relieving etc. I want to say it is actually very rarely dominance but thanks to the "dominance/alpha theory" that is what it is more equated to. My Great Pyrenees used to hump blankets. I can assure you it wasn't dominance . _________________ |

| Yeah, I would agree with Ceara, this version of humping doesn't seem to be alpha stuff. I haven't had an experience with it myself, mine just mount eachother to show who is boss. |

| My friend has a lab that humps his puppy blanket. When I saw him do it, I think it was from excitement. |

| My mom's spayed golden humps her blanket almost every night when everyone is sleeping. We wake up to a balled up blanket. |

| It's so odd, because she only does it at my parent's house, not at my apartment. And only when there's a certain blanket on the bed. So...maybe she just really likes the blanket?
Haha, thanks everyone though! |

| My mum's female spade maltese humps teddies, blankets and pillows. She cant sleep on a nice soft cussioned bed because first she humps it then tears it to shreads.
I've heard it's dominance, but really I dont know. |

| Nicky humps ALL the time!!! If we pick her up, she's trying to hump haha. She's been doing this since she was about 3 months old. At least once a day she grabs Hayden by the back of the neck and goes to town. If he tries to get away, she start's growling at him and bites harder lol. She's a freak! |

Haha that makes me feel a bit better! Pippa never tries to hump other dogs at the park, in fact she's usually the one that all the other dogs try to hump. Nicky sounds very determined! lol |

| It is perfectly normal my adult female will hump Blaze and other dogs at the dog park. I think she does it at the dog park because she gets tired of them humping her. She was not spayed up she was 2 years old at the shelter we got her from. |

| Kaya has done that before! She doesn't hump people - just her bed! And boy does she show that bed who's boss... We have done everything to get her to stop - ridicule, puns, passive aggressive insults, and very direct insults (such as: you're embarrassing the family, etc...). Every now and then she will start for a second, but stop. I think it's still just a hormones thing. Kaya did have her first heat really early, so she went through that before being spayed - that may have something to do with it. Not sure. |

| Maya humps Sophie all the time and Kay humps Maya all the time too. I haven't seen Maya hump any dog other then Sophie but Kay is always trying to hump other dominant dogs at the dog park. |

| I know with rabbits that humping each other is to show which one is the dominant one. Is this the same with huskies? |

Dogs hump for a number of reasons - not just dominance. _________________ |

| My female Karma ALWAYS humped my male Kato, when they were pups. But of course it was a dominance thing.
But now that Kato is much bigger and stronger then Karma, things changed...lol. I haven't seen her try to hump him since. |

| The st. Brenard at my work humps all the new workers. .....not sure why. It's like a death grip too. A 165 pound dog on you is not fun. Maggie only humps other dogs but I know she is dominant. |
