Sophie has had a rough life, she is 6 years old and she is in her 3rd home, 4th if you count where ever she was bred. Her current home is full of tension and stress. She has a few housemates that are small dogs like yorkies and poms. Well Sohpie wants to play, but when she uses that big paw at them, the other dogs get scared. It has gotten so bad that sophie is stuck in the garage to let the others out to potty, but even then they are too scared to go out with out being motivated to go. Sophies human is very upset with how things have come along. She seems like she means well, but her research with this breed has been off the internet and I doubt she stopped by here. I will post some pics of our meeting and then some when she comes to meet the pack here. |

| Seems like I will catch her in No time Melissa. Come december there will be my 4 (if goes well) and Megan's Delilah and Cato..so is there a record for amount of huskies in one house? lol.
Thanks guys for all your well wishes. I am going over tomorrow to talk to the rescue group that did the courtesy post about her that I saw. I hope to just talk to them and get their opinions of her and see what they think. I am given the heads up that she isn't keen with males, but i am not too worried about that. I figured if I can tame my Diva Cali, I am good with Sophie. |

| Well I am trying to patiently wait till wed 11 am to meet Sophie, but its not working too well..lol. I stopped by the rescue that did her post hoping they had more input on how she is. A friend of mine was there, she is a volunteer there, and she said Sophie was there long enough to get a few good pics and a short story as to what is going on and that was it. The person who talked to them wasn't in today so no real insight. I bet she is just a typical husky that is slightly scared due to her past. I am not worried, Cali and Mika have prepared me for this. Sophie's crate is up and ready, food bowl ready, blanket good to go. So the house is ready for a new husky to arrive. Will post pics early turkey day when I get off work. |

| Best of luck to you. you seem very excited as well. Like you said it all depends on the back history and most of them will be happy with anyone as long as they are loved. |

| I've been wanting to reply but I want to phrase it right so it doesn't come off as rude or unsupportive... Kevin- it's obvious you love your fur-kids but I would just urge patience in adding dogs so quickly to your family. I know I have a good amount of dogs coming in and out of the pack as fosters and some who wind up never leaving... But something i've learned is to take your time in adding dogs. As I look back, the one thing I wish is that I would have spaced out my dogs more. Not because they don't behave or anything like that... But I feel it would have been better for them, mentally. Especially my sensitive dogs.
My dogs have been spaced apart about a year which I think has given them a good chance to develop solid relationships with each other and for the "feel" of the "pack" to adjust. And for me to come to an understanding of their relationships to where I feel 100% comfortable leaving them loose with each other throughout the day. Even so... I still feel, for me at least personally... That waiting a bit longer would have been beneficial for us as a whole. I never take adding a dog to my family lightly (and i'm not saying that you do) but I have had to say to myself (multiple times) "is adding this particular dog, in this particular moment, a good adjustment and addition for this family as a whole? Or am I just taking on another for the sake of taking on another?"
I love my dogs, I wouldn't change them for anything. I just wanted to share what i've learned and if I could do it differently (and have the same dogs) I would have. _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! | Well i have her, but sadly I don't have any pics to post yet. She has been very curious today and a little unsure of everything but that is understandable. She loves walks so we have taken two o f them. Right now she has a HUGE smile on her face sitting on the couch loving it. She isn't eating anything but treats though, passed on her food. I gave her a bit of tuna and she wasn't too sure of that. Steve didn't mind that at all since He got the leftovers. She is drinking though and def not lazy at all. I had to trot after her while on the walk cause she wanted to GOO!! I have her crate set up that she came with and her new crate I have with her blanked in it. I went for work without an issue from, she was very calm and polite when I came home, hard to say that about the other kids though. I hope to get some pics though later, taking the pack to the dog park later today to play and have fun b4 I head south for holiday meal with family. |

| Here is a funny story about Sophie from this weekend:
So my sister in law got all my furkids a treat from the bakery for thanksgiving. They were turkey shaped cookies. I put them in the driver's door of my car so they were away from Sophie, my 7 yo husky. I took her on a trip to Molly's Dog Bakery on saturday and she was in the car for a few mins while I ran into a store. I got the cookies out of the car and counted 3 cookies. The bag had all four names on it. I called to make sure she got Sophie one since she is soo new and she said yes. Well apparently Sophie ate her cookie while the others didn't..lol. Good girl Sophie for sharing. |

| I found mika a new home with a couple here in town. I check in with them every week or so and they say she has been a perfect angel, not even crating her. I wouldn't trust her but that is their call. The first day they were to get her, they went and got a day pass at the park so they could go play with her. Great people for her. |

| That is Sammy, a rescue red from a Texas kill shelter. His owner didn't want him back. He escaped the fenced yard (so the story goes) and was on the loose for 3 weeks till AC caught him. He was found without any collar or tags. AC failed him because they didn't check for chip. A rescue pulled him from the kill shelter and got him to a vet. At the vets office they found the chips information and called the owner to see if they wanted their dog back. They did not since the "just moved to an apartment with a 20 lb dog limit". It sounded with everything told that they let the dog go hoping he wouldn't return. He will be 3 on feb 14th, I now have something to do on that day..lol. |
