| here is the link to my tracks, not sure how Eddy got the maps to show, so if you care to look at it go for it, http://goo.gl/maps/Ej7kW because of a mix up on my part, Ken and I ended up hiking alone as Claudia and her husband were down the road waiting for us at another trailhead i think this trail is cursed as when i snowshoed it last yr Eddy was so late we had to start with out him! My tracks said it was 7 miles but my guess is it was closer to 6 miles and we did it in 2.4hrs. we did not take many breaks. to get to THIS trail head you want to take the peak to peak highway-74 and turn down CO road 96 where the boyscout camp is, there are signs for the camp on the main road, drive past the camp till you come to the beaver res. the trail head is there. We followed the 507 road for a trail. ok here are our pictures start of the trail area map it is a very rocky road used for off roading, last time i was here it was covered in snow. you get up the road some and come to this sign, follow the hiker trail straight. just dont ever go off of 507 found a cool down tree on the trail for the hikers, and more snow, thats my hubby ken and me sierra digging in the snow woohoo snow!!! back at the res. so when we came out the other side of that hikers only trail we had the option of going right down a road or up and keep on 507, im a fan of going up when hiking and im glad we did, if you look at my map you will see if we would have headed down on that road we would have ended up intersecting the middle saint vrain road, the road claudia and her hubby were on! but we went up and and stayed on 507 and made a loop back to the sign stating to go straight on the hikers trail. it might be fun to do a 2 car drop and start at one side of the trail and go over to the other trail head as trying to do it as a RT would take a long time, this is a great snowshoeing trail when it snows! but it was not bad this time just very lose rock to walk on. still a great day out. _________________ |

| I remember looking at the map at the trailhead we were at and wondered if that's the trail you were on!
Next time, we should just meet on the Peak to Peak Hwy - that way everyone would end up at the same trailhead!
I can't wait to snowshoe this trail, if only we can get some snow!!! _________________ |

| The snow situation looks like here in Oregon. Little snow under 6000 ft. We are waiting for the storms to start coming from the Gulf of Alaska instead of Hawaii. I don't want another winter like last year!
Any day outside is a good one. The dogs look happy. |

| Looks awesome. Even if it's a little snow, it's more than we have so I'm jealous. Although the local ski hills did open on Wednesday since it's been cold enough to make snow. Still only a few runs |
