| I took my dog to the vet yesterday. Juno will be 5 months old on the 25th of this month. She weighs 23 lbs, although she looks bigger and feels heavier than that.
My vet said that huskys stop growing about 6-8 months and he doubted that she would even get to 50 lbs. He said MAYBE 45 lbs.
I have never heard of a dog stopping their growth from 6-8 months. Don't dogs grow up to a year? Also, I heard huskys get a growth spurt about a year and a half years old.
What do you guys think? |

| Siberians usually have their height by 1 to 1.5 years of age...with some possible growth depending on lines beyond that. Beyond that they continue to develop and fill out, sometimes not reaching full physical maturity until 4-5years of age. It really depends on the lineage of the dog though. |

| On the weight thing, the standard for females tops out at 50 pounds, so your girl will be well within standard. Sheba is almost a year old and has kept a constant weight at 34 pounds. Sibes aren't big dogs. They are a medium breed dog, so don't be thrown off by his guesstimate. He is guessing within standard . |

| Huskies never stop growing. Why, in Florida they have reports of 30 ft long ... Oh wait, those are snakes. never mind.
The dog may achieve 90 % of its skeleton size in first year. It will continue to put on muscle mass until about 18 months. Mushers do not start serious training until the dog is about 2 years old and is developed enough to take the strains. |

| I just left the vet with my girl yesterday. She is almost a year and 7 months, and she is a very healthy 43 lbs. In fact, our vet said Keeonah was the only dog she had seen this week that WASN'T overweight. |

| Balon had a growth spurt just recently at about 14 months old, he got a bit taller and is still filling out some. Right now I would guess his weight at about 65lbs. I have always read that they will continue to fill out until 18 months old. |

I love the name. Is it pronounced Key-own-ah? |

| Sabaka has weighed approximately 50 pounds at every vet visit since he was 7 months old. He's now almost 2.5 years old. I don't know what happened to his "filling out"... he looks filled out... my guess is he lost some puppy fat and gained some muscle along the way. I think they all grow differently. |

Sabaka looks like a pretty big dog to me. One thing I will say is this. Juno is only 23 lbs right now, but she feels a lot heavier than that, and honestly, she looks BIGGER than that. It seems like huskies look bigger than they actually weigh. Why is that? |

FUR sierra is only 45lbs but looks larger cause of her fur, jack is 57lbs but looks it cause he is not as furry. everyone has given you the same info i would have as far as growth. we got ours as adults, we had to put sierra on a diet and jack needed to fill out, we were super close on his age at 1ish cause with in the yr he did start to fill out more but not grow any taller! _________________ |
