How much pumpkin? Empty
PostSubject: How much pumpkin?   How much pumpkin? EmptyWed Oct 24, 2012 11:48 pm

Hello,

Milla has developed the runs over the last few days, she starts off solid-ish at the start of the day but by the end of the day its just liquid. I've been giving her pumpkin and mashed wheatbix trying to firm it up a bit but don't think it's been helping. My question is how much pumpkin should I be feeding her at a time, I'm worried I'm over doing it as her and Hunter both love it. We don't have the pie filling in australia that I see mentioned so have been boiling up pumpking and then just mashing it for her. Any suggestions are welcome, she's going to get her second shot either tomorrow or Monday so if I don't see any improvement I'll ask the vet for suggestions while I'm there.

TIA

I give mine about 2 tablespoons full when they are having problems. YOu might also want to give then some yogurt inbetween giving them the pumpkin. That is what I do. greek yogurt the plain stuff. It sounds good boiling it up for then. You can also bake a pumpkin in the oven or cook it in a crock pot and freeze some of it for later use.

Pumpkin works both ways, it can firm up soft stool and help relieve constipation and soften too firm stool. So yes, overdoing it can give an undesirable effect but it's not really harmful to your dog.
