Hi guys,
My little 8wk old husky Molly seems to suffer terrible seperation anxiety. If my gf adrienne is home alone she cant't even take a shower without molly barking and screaming until adrienne comes back so adrienne has been waiting for me to come home from work to take a shower!!
Also i tend to be the trainer/disciplinarian and as i said in my welcome message molly is daddys little girl, but when i'm not thete molly is such a brat and Adrienne cant control her. I know she's young surely too young for alpha behaviour no?
Thanks Darren

Ye, i'm hoping the seperation thing gets better with age. What we've been doing is when we come back from leaving her we always give treats. In the hopes that she'll learn not just that we always come back, but we bring treats, so maybe Molly will associate us leaving good things.
On the other hand Molly may think its her howling thats being rewarded. Its a tough one. The alpha behaviour towards my gf is really up and down. Sometimes she's an angel other times a demin with my gf. Adriennes tryin to be more assertive and hopefully Molly will treeat adrienne as she treats me.
If you decide to try my technique for the sep anxiety let me know how you get on.
Thanks, Darren and Molly

Hi and welcome to the forum! I can't wait to see more pics of your baby! We adopted our girl from a shelter. She was around 18 months when we got her. She has severe Sept anxiety. We crate trained her which was the tough. It took about three weeks and lots of crate modifications to even keep her in the crate. Yours sounds like a puppy so it should be easier to keep her in. Give her something to do in the crate like a Kong or something to chew on. The key is to be consistent! They need to go in the crate every day! We have been crating for six months now and she goes in and relaxes. She still follows us from room to room but does not whine as much. It takes time but gets a lot easier as they get more comfortable with your family. My girl listens to me over my husband and will bully other people if they have treats. Your gf has to be consistent with training and positive re inforcement. She needs to be firm and follow through every time. That will help thier bond and help Molly listen better!

Thanks Darren/CJ
Kira has her bed which is like what you call a crate. Kira went straight to it the first day we brough her home. She feels this is her safe place. She has her big toy bedbox right next to it. She tends to spend alot of time there when she is inside ,without us telling her to go there.

She is a very quick learner so hopefully as you suggested treats, consistency reward she will become comfortable being left alone.

Kira has a huge yard she can run around with its perimeter secure fence line height of almost 7 feet all the way around. SHe also has sandpit to play and dig in.

She has free roam in and out of house through doggy door anytime when we are home . She learnt how to use that within 10 minutes. Each time she is alone we only let her stay in the house close the door to the doggy door, for fear she will escape jumping fence maybe ? We know she escaped previous owners place three times. So she cant go outside at these times we are not home . Are we doing the wrong thing by not letting her go out ? We just dont know what will happen if we do, we fear we will come home and she will be gone ? So damaging and destroying things at moment is lesser of two evils.
