| Thanks!
Ill be sure to post some pics when I can. When Im not obsessing over him ^^; I just have only one question. I actually like it when a Husky has more...er fur? How can you tell which puppy will have much more fur when he gets older, if there is anyway you can tell lol |

| Can't wait to see pics! You will deff enjoy it!
Also I think you are referring to a wooly husky! They are extremely fluffy! The breeder should be able to tell you which ones are wooly if you are unsure! |

| Also just something to think about - I originally really wanted a more fluffy husky, but as I was around huskies more I thought that the longer haired huskies (not wooly though) were more bristly where as the shorter haired ones were really soft, perhaps because you could feel the softer undercoat with the top layer being shorter. So I came to prefer the shorter haired ones, I could pet Maya and Sophie allllll day @Abby. But as anastasiya'smom said, the breeder should be able to tell you if any are wooly. |

| @Anastasiya'smom: Oh, so its called a wooly puppy. Thats makes sense lol And yeah, I think I will ask the breeder, in case Im not sure still. I was thinking of seeing the paretns, and seeing how they look, so that could give me a rough idea on how my puppy will grow.
@Mobezilla: Oh and there is short haired and long haired? See, this is the stuff I DONT know about huskies XD I know their personalities, how much of a handful they can be, daily work outs and such, but I know almost nothing about their fur.
I will most likley google Long haired compared to short haired, and then google wooly husky and see which is the one Im aiming for. I know they shed a ton, and Im basically going to be rolling around in it lol I bought a brush, but It seems there are more spesific brushes when it comes to huskies, or something like a high velocity dryer or something?
Thanks so much guys! And both your huskies are absoloutly adorable <3 |

| ^^ Yupp, I checked up on that in one of the threads here. That would be, for me, the only bad thing about huskies. Is that they shed a ton! But it wont bother me much, I just know my dad will complain -_-
Btw guys, when I googled the type of coats, It gave me a bit of a mix. One husky had long long hair, and Im not going for that. Maybe I should just upload a picture oh the type of fur Im hoping for?
This link hopfully works for you guys. This is what Im searching for. http://dogbreedinsight.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Siberian-Husky-17.jpg

| Shedding will be a regular thing for you when you pick up your pup. We sort of gave up the fight, we vaccuum and clean, but I gave up sticky-rolling my pants for work until I get in. The Husky hair just sort of became my constant accessory.... I know you have posted in another thread, I cant remember if you are going with a breeder or not, if they know their stuff they should be able to tell you which pups look like they will be wooly. If they cant tell you or dont know, then maybe ask some more questions about their practices. If you dont get a good feeling, you could look into adopting one. A lot get dropped off at shelters in the early teenage stages because people cant deal with their energy and temperment (basically bratty teenagers). You might just fall in love. Wishing you luck either way, keep up posted! Kelly _________________ Is this about the cake problem? What's the matter with you mathematicians, cake is never a problem. - Professor Lazlo

| Thanks Kelly Yeah, I have read that Huskies shed a LOT. Getting ready for the battle to come lol Also, I am picking it up from a breeder. Also, this has nothing to do with my previous questions, but I just saw 2 more husky owners around my block! Thats 5 in total I have seen walking around with their huskies or in the dog park. I didnt realize that the breed was very popular. I have to go to the thread on how to deal with the teenagers. I have book Im reading that lets me know, but I feel like you guys, knowing full well how huskies are, will have more to share with me lol Thanks again to all who welcomed me and answered my questions ^.^ Really loving it here <3 |

| Welcome, so it looks like your doing a ton of reading on this site and thats great to hear! have you checked out the finding a breeder sticky yet? that will be the most helpful since you have not set your heart on a pup yet https://www.itsahuskything.com/t1042-how-to-find-a-reputable-breederi see your NOT looking for a Wooly husky more of a show coat husky. wooly coats are NOT a normal coat for a husky, as super cute as they are its a genetic defect and people should not be breeding to get that coat. it is really hard to know what kind of coat they are gonna have when they are a puppy since the coat changes so much, your best indication will be what the parents look like. if you look at my 2 sierra has a fluffy "show" coat. Jack has a smoother, still thick coat that is more of racing line huskies. good luck in finding your pup! _________________ |

| Yupp ^.^ I had to do my research to make sure everything was okay when bringing this dog to my house. Got a big family and all. Since I know these dogs are for more experianced owners. I have only owned one other dog, so this will be a challenge. But I have a good friend of mine who owns a Husky, and he constantly gives me tips. Plus I have 2 books on them, and now I found this website, so I think I know a good amount, but obviously I dont know everything XD Thanks for the Link! Ill check it out. I got a breeder, my friend who owns the husky showed me where he got his pup. But still, Ill check out the link Ah, so its called a "Show Coat Husky" then? Well yupp, my friends husky is like that, and I love it. Thanks for the info! I plan on checking both parents for each litter I look into. Im a newbie when it comes to their coats. I have to look more into it. I know they shed a lot, and that they blow out 2 times (sometimes more) every year. One during the summer and I think fall or winter? I checked out a few threads here, and it seems they get their dog groomed either every 2 months, twice a year or just depends lol Also, there seems to be speacial brushes for their coats? I need to look into that. I already have most of my things for the husky (just need a crate and bed) but the brush I got, Im not sure if its speacially made for this breed. It says for all breeds with heavy coats. So I dont know if I should get a whole new one or see how this brush goes? Thanks again for all the info you guys are giving (I think Im saying this too often?) and just ignore my horrible grammer >.> |

| Wooly huskies are a fault in the breed and not accepted in the show ring. So I wouldn't really "want" that unless you were rescuing one.
I really wouldn't consider a show husky to have a different coat, they look fuller only because they fluff out the coat and use chalk to make it appear that way.
You'll usually only find the short coat in sled dog lines, or from a backyard breeder with dogs out of standard. |
