Petsmart Beginner Class? Empty
PostSubject: Petsmart Beginner Class?   Petsmart Beginner Class? EmptySun Oct 21, 2012 4:13 pm

So Lycus is now 10 months old and he knows his basic commands such as sit, paw, stay [somewhat], leave it, drop it, lay, dead, and he knows to run through my legs. I was the only one who trained him. Although, he does need a lot of help with loose leash walking and learning how to act when meeting other dogs [he pulls really bad to get closer]. My question is, should I enroll him in the beginner classes at Petsmart? He is too old for the puppy classes, but the trainer said he would be great for the beginner class and he really liked Lycus. He said he would even give me a discount. The trainer also seems really good. I saw other dogs that were trained by him, and they were very well behaved. Would it be worth it to enroll him for the loose leash, and the for the way he acts to meet other dogs? Or would it be better if I just work on that on my own?
Any advice is welcome!

Thanks in advace! Smile

See if the trainer will do an evaluation to see where he stands. Our trainers at the Petsmart up the road from us will do that, so you don't wind up wasting time in a class where your dog already knows everything. We loved our Petsmart training classes too.

I'll try and do that. I also want to see if I can observe one of the classes before deciding anything.

I had the trainer evaluation Kerian and we enrolled both Kerian and Blaze in the intermedite class. They both graduated It sounds to me like he is ready for the intermedited class. Most of what he know they teach in the beginner class (we took Blaze to that one).
