I got a new down jacket today from Eddie Bauer. Brought it home in a paper shopping bag and set in on the ground in the bedroom. All of a sudden we see Bode slinking up to it sniffing like crazy, really tenative. He got super close to it then JUMPED back. Then he started growling/barking at it. I took it out and put it on and he was barking at me like crazy and kept jumping back. I took it off and was just holding the arm out for him to sniff. He would sniff it then jump back and bark. I wish I had gotten it on video. It's weird because we have tons of down blankets/pillows in our house. Maybe those already smelled like us to him, while this is brand new!

Anyone else's dog have a reaction like this to something? Haha.

He'll either totally avoid the jacket for the strong dislike or he'll destroy it when your not looking to save the master (you) from being devoured by the new monster.

I would guess there's a scent that he doesn't like.

I can leave for a couple of hours and if I'm carrying a slight scent from where I've been, Storm and Ginger will sniff me hard.

If you can wash it, maybe Bode won't have the same reaction?

Haha, that's what I'm worried about. I'm keeping it in the closet for the most part, but when I'm watching him I'm leaving it on the coat rack in the living room just to see if he will slowly get used to it!
