| Hello everyone! I thought I would take a few minutes and introduce the two of us. I've been lurking on the site for a little while taking advantage of the great advice, experiences, etc. Ever since I was a child, I always wanted a pet Husky. I researched for months (yes, I know what I signed up for ). A few weeks back, I looked around and took the plunge. We brought little Kodiak (call him "Kodi") home from the breeder almost two weeks ago. It has been a lifestyle change, but I am absolutely LOVING it. I'm in IT and get to work from home pretty much 100%. I took a week of vacation around the time we brought him home to help get settled into a routine. I know I have my work cut out for me, but he really has been near perfect so far. He seems to be pretty calm and is very responsive to the positive reinforcement training. Housebreaking, chewing, whining, and all of the negative things from a new puppy (especially a husky) seem to be going well [knock on wood]. Sleep is getting better by the day. Here are a handful of pics from our first few weeks. I'm really looking forward to interacting with everyone through the site -- and have been enjoying reading through the Welcome Mat!!! The day we picked him (4 weeks): 5 girls and 1 boy Quick visit (5 weeks) A true "dog pile" (5 weeks) Kodi and His Hyper Sisters (6 weeks) First Day Home (7 weeks) He didn't chew the corner, but imagine he will start one day soon.... (7 weeks) Trying to stay cool while asleep (7 weeks) Always tries to touch the hardwoods when he sleeps, but likes his crate (8 weeks) How's this for an alpha roll? ZZzzzzzzz (8 weeks) Listening in on my conference calls -- his favorite place to sleep (8 weeks) |

| Thanks everyone! I know I am in for a long road ahead -- both fun & hard-work. The site is already proving to be a VERY valuable resource as I look for the "right" ways to train while he is young. |

So there are other Huskies in Atlanta?!?!? J/K It's funny how many different people I have run into that thought Huskies would DIE down here in the GA heat. Do you have any recommendations on local dog parks? I have never been to one around here, but need to look around for good socialization once he's fully vaccinated and ready hang out. He starts puppy classes in mid-Nov. |

| Captured a couple more poses today. I really like his new Swimmer Sleep pose.... This is what he does when I'm working in my office... Taking a break from terrorizing the cat... |

I've only had Nanook for a few weeks, but so far he's a lazy guy whose favorite spot is in front of the a/c vent. I wish I could recommend a good dog park for you, but I'm on the south side. I haven't taken my guy to the dog park yet, but there is a great one in Henry county if you are up for a long drive! |

Okay I've seen this picture several times in here since you posted it, makes me smile every time. The pup has learned to use the hardwood floor to his advantage to keep cool. |

| Someone else from Georgia!
He is absolutely adorable!
I go to school in Atlanta, but am from Forsyth county. The dog park in Fowler Park in Forsyth is really great and almost always has at least one other dog there. If you're even in Atlanta, Piedmont Dog Park is absolutely fantastic. Well mulched and tons of people there almost always.
So great to see someone else from Georgia on here! Good luck with him! He's adorable! |

He definitely prefers to rest on the hardwoods -- even when in his crate (with the door open), he usually hangs some part out to touch the floor. My wife is making fun of me but I'm thinking about putting a few floor boards into his crate. He always seems to have a hard time getting comfortable in the bed or the hard lining, but sleeps for hours on my office floor. |

I am definitely planning to take advantage of Piedmont Park. I have a few friends that live down that way and always out there. I did find a local dog park that was built about 5 min drive from my house. Nice fenced in area to let them run -- only downside is most people don't even know it exists, so visitor traffic is pretty low. Maybe we'll need to start an ATL meetup group some time in the future... |

| Hey welcome,
He is a wonderful looking pup and looks like a sturdy little guy, Arya is the same she's not to gone on soft surfaces and prefers to sleep on tiles and wood flooring. |

| Today was our scheduled visit to the vet -- 3 weeks since last shots and 2 weeks since last weigh in. Still clean bill of health and everything looks good. But the shots are not sitting well with his stomach tonight. Hopefully back to himself quickly. On a positive note, he has grown from 6 lbs to 10.4 lbs in the two weeks. He is definitely filling out the puppy belly. Little fat-boy resting on the tile floor... relaxing to the sounds of the washing machine. |
