| Hello! So it's a fairly basic question. How do you measure your huskies height? Lycus is only 10 months old and he's 73 lbs! So I want to measure his height and see how much he is supposed to weigh. I don't want him to be over weight. The thing is, he is very tall, and to me, he doesn't look fat to me lol. But I don't want him to be unhealthy so I want to make sure.

It's from the GPCA (Great Pyrenees Club of America) but basically at the bottom it gives a few ways to do it .
For most people - it would be the method described as running a tape measure from shoulder to the floor. _________________ |

It is big - but it's not uncommon anymore to have very large Siberians. It's the main reason why the general populous believes that the Siberian Husky as a breed is as tall as a Great Pyrenees and weighs as much as a Malamute. _________________ |

| Thanks for the website! I will definitely measure him out as soon as I have the time!
As far as growing, the vet said he is probably done growing taller, but he will probably still fill in some more. She never mentioned anything about him being overweight either.
I will try to post up some pictures this afternoon so you guys can get a look if he lets me take them lol |

| You're welcome Height and weight for a "standard" Siberian would be 21-23 1/2in for a male 45-60 pounds and 20-22in for a female and 35-50 pounds with weight being in proportion to height. The measurements represent the extreme height/weight limits. By about a year you can pretty much safely assume they're done growing height wise. People say that the dogs will continue to fill out and what not up to 2 years - but it really depends on the size of the breed and individuals within that breed. My girl was done growing and filled out under a year. My Pyrenees didn't stop until 2 years (larger dogs take longer to mature etc.) _________________ |

| He looks perfect weight wise for his height. He might still get a little taller, Embry filled out like crazy when he hit two, gained close to 10lbs. this is embry at 10 months and then him at 3 years |

| We have a very tall red and white piebald who comes to some of our meetups. For that height, he's fine weight wise. Way out of standard, but not fat. _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! Join our facebook meetup group! |
