We just went on a camping trip this weekend with a group of people, and it was so bad! We had to keep our two dogs in the camper for the first day. The second day, we were able to get them out to the campfire to sit with us, and as long as the other dogs kept their distance, they were fine. The only ones who really actually got along were my female and another female who had part husky in her. But my boy would snap at any dog who came up to him. They were kept on a leash and next to us, while the other dogs wandered around freely, maybe that had something to do with it? I have no idea how to break them of this. They have been good with other dogs before, and are extremely friendly with all people. Anyone else have Huskies who have gone through this?

my guess would be the fact that your 2 were leashed and the others were not. next time i would work on introducing all the dogs first in like a "walk" setting some head off in one direction others in another and then bring them all in together on neutral turf and see how they do with everyone leashed. or better yet do some play dates before the trip so they know each other. _________________

Unfortunately, no one else there seemed willing to help us ease them into meeting everyone. I wasn't aware there would be so many dogs there before we left. Will be better prepared next time I hope. But even when we go for walks, there are some dogs that they just can't get along with or walk by without a fit..

Well I would have not been as accepting to the situation that you were. I would have packed up and found a new place myself, just my . My dogs are with me, you don't get me without them. I agree that what Jennifer said would probably work. Proper socializing can be as easy as walking all the dogs together. I would start there.

Im thinking they formed there own pack and don't want others in. Im to sure though, I don't have this problem with mine but mine is also very submissive and a only dog.

Believe me, I really didn't want to stay. Was not the best camping trip thats for sure, and I feel so bad that I don't know what we have done wrong to have them act like this.

They are huskies and a very unique breed of dogs and can have moments. I joke that my youngest, Mika, has flashbacks to a time like vietnam or something and she goes bizerk, but its one time in weeks or even months between.

| Your dogs didn't do anything wrong and neither did you. They are dogs, they have scuffles and don't always like each other. Don't beat yourself up, just try not put yourselves in that situation.
Do your dogs ever go to dog parks? |

heyo, sorry I know I am new to this forum, but I saw your post about huskies being aggressive, and I know my own young boy does the same. But I asked a dog trainer and it isn't aggression, huskies are quite accepting to have others join them and be friends. It is usually just a dominance thing, though it can be mistaken for aggression. I don't know if this helps, but it is usually just dominance because they are such strong pack dogs.

No, we don't go to dog parks, there aren't any where I live. I'm thinking it is a dominance/pack thing. We are at my parents for the weekend, and they are getting along wonderfully with my mom's little puggle I guess it really depends on the situation.
