Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

For some reason Kota has been very, scary good today, so I decided to try and get some of her good tricks on video. Typically she doesn't listen so well, ill be honest, but maybe the smell of that ham was what did it for her. Lol. So far, we've mastered Sit, Lay Down, Shake, Other Paw, Beg, Stay, Leave It, Get It, Drop It, Fetch, Bring It Back, Talk To Me, and Get In Your House (Her Crate). We are pretty proud of her. Smile

Aevyn's 20 months old, and so far he's learned what I figure is a fair amount for his age. I admit I probably could be teaching him more (he picks up on things spooky quick) and also that when I got him he was pretty much already a master of the basics. However.

Sit, stay, lay down, off (for couches/beds), cage, paw, other paw, both paws, speak, spin, with me, drop it, fetch, kisses, stand, gentle and (usually) leave it - great for when we find gross things on our walks.

We're working on roll over now, which will then lead to play dead. I try to always be working on something so I have a reason to turn everything off and focus directly on him.

I'm glad to see that other owners bother to teach their dogs silly tricks - I've been told by owners that its 'unnecessary' to teach your dogs anything beyond sit, stay, and lay down.

Arya is 13 weeks and she knows sit, down, stay, paw, other paw and is starting to get "leave it" and though she knows these commands she sometimes will not do them unless there is something in it for her which seems to be very common in huskies.

when its feeding time sits, gives paw and lays down one after another without being asked "just give me the food now!!!"
