| Greetings raw feeders, I just got my husky puppy a few weeks ago and now he is 10 weeks old. The breeder gave me a schedule on what she fed him throughout the week...I went out and bought him the stuff she listed like chicken quarters, chicken fingers, telapia, chicken hearts, turkey tails, pork, ect. But he refuses to eat. He only nibbles a bit, eats a tiny bit and then drags its somewhere and hides it. Im getting very worried so I went out and shelled out more cash on some raw pre made patties and grinded up pork pre made raw dog food. He still refuses to eat. It seems like he just eats a tiny bit and then ignores.
So basically, how can I get him to eat? What time do you feed your pups? and how many times a day do you feed them? I have done myriads of research on the raw diet...but its so over whelming...I dont want to switch to kibble...but I feel as thought I wont have a choice. |

| Others will tune in but maybe she is a bit young for the raw meat. |

| Perhaps you could try cracking a raw egg in it? Mine love that and it's awesome for their coats. Maybe mix a few different meats together that will make him more interested. Mine tend to LOVE ground bison! It's a little bit more pricey, but they love it! Try ground lamb too or pork ribs. My puppy has been on raw since she was 4-weeks old and if I toss her a whole chicken quarter, she won't eat it. I take a knife or scissors and cut up the meat in small chunks and leave the bone in the bowl as well. Leave some of the meat on the bone, so he gets the idea that he needs to tear the meat off the bone. I'm getting to the point now where I don't have to cut the meat off for her, so I just take scissors and I make pinches in the meat, so she can just rip it off, sorta like perforated slices. I don't give hearts/livers but once a week. If chicken is boring you're pup, you can always switch to a red meat like beef, which I find mine prefer over chicken.
How much are you feeding the pup? Is he eating more a night vs the morning? I wouldn't worry too much, my 10 week old doesn't always want her breakfast, so I just throw it in a container and offer it in the afternoon and usually she'll take it and if not, hey I have dinner prepared! As long as you're pup is healthy, he should be ok. Just offer a little bit more at dinner if he eat's all you put in front of him. |

| Is your pup eating at all and if so, how much would you say he is actually eating? I wouldn't consider introducing kibble. Have you gotten an all clear from the vet on your pup's health since this started? How well was your pup eating at the breeders? - Here4thePics wrote:

Not so, puppies can eat raw as soon as they are weaned. _________________ |

| If you just got your pup it may certainly be an adjustment period. To entice eating you may want to slighly sear some of the meat to get the smell going (don't cook it all the way.) And I would also probably advise feeding in a crate if he's a dragger. As Val said- Puppies can be weaned on to raw at 4 weeks old _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?!
