| I don't understand why. Maybe it's easier to sit like this. |

| All three of our dogs (especially Toccoa) sit like that. When they're not running through the house like little terrors |

| That's how Dakota sits most of the time. Demon prefers to lay down since he slides on our floors anyway. |

| i have no idea if there is any truth to the statement, but my manager at work (who has a husky..gorgeous), says that he doesn't let her sit like that because of the breed's notoriety with bad hips, and that letting them sit like that can work in a negative way. Scared the hell out of me, so i'd always correct Keeonah when she sat like that. Now, she always sits straight...when she's not laying down |

| Anubis 90 percent sits that way. I always thought he does this because his hips are not completely fine and it is more comfortable for him and I have never seen this on other dogs before, but like this thread shows it seems to be normal with Huskies |

Hmmm I would really like to to know if there is any truth to this statement. Mia, being almost 8 months old, I wouldn't want to encourage, through neglect, any bad habits. |

Omg Kota does the slide thing all the time on our tile haha. But he does both; lazy sit and lazy slide/down. Sarabi has pretty amazing posture when it comes to sitting but when she's in her crate she tends to lean/lazy sit too haha. But I, too, would like to know if there is any truth in that statement.. I've always wondered if it was bad for them since I know they're prone to hip problems. And if so, what's a good way to prevent that? |

| Danzig sits like this all the time. Also, when he sits straight he opens his legs really wide. It's pretty funny. |

| I recently noticed Link sitting like this, lazy, and it really concerned me because I was worried about the health of his hips. Thankfully he comes from a good, health testing breeder and we know his parents were rated Good and Excellent by OFA, which eases my concern a bit. He sits lazy on slanted surfaces a lot and in more casual circumstances. If he's alert and active he sits square and straight and very erect. I started experimenting with treats and he sits lazy roughly 1/5 times. I was actually nauseous the other night thinking about his hips and the worst case scenario because of it. But the other circumstantial evidence suggests good hips: he runs fine, he jumps on the sofa and bed and into the car fine (albeit when he wants and less so when commanded to), and he doesn't limp or have any expressions of discomfort from touch or rotation from me. I'm glad I found this thread. I was afraid to start it myself....your experiences are encouraging Anyway, in my panic I did some research and found this informative site: http://myvitalitychiropractic.wordpress.com/2011/07/19/puppy-sitting-aka-lazy-or-side-sitting/ It can definitely be a sign of HD but could also just be truly a lazy, or puppy, sit or in some cases just the way any dogs enjoys sitting. Whether or not you should allow it because of potential risks caused by it is up for debate. Cheers. |

| Jeff, only 2% of TESTED and sent in Siberians are found dysplastic. Your lines are very clean, but you can do a prelim on Link whenever you like or you can check him at 2 with OFA. We are going to do this with Cato - but only because I think it's important to be aware of all puppies, not just the ones who are in the AKC show ring.
Try not to worry, Cato sits like this and his parents are rated Good and Excellent as well. I know many show dogs who sit like this and have excellent ratings. Don't over think it, it's probably just more comfortable (think about how it feels to sit directly on your junk, not so fun). I have seen it more in males than females. |

| Megan thank you so for the reassurance. Coming from you especially means a lot. I'll try not to worry. Since getting him I have just been bombarded with all this great info but it is so much to take in and weigh and think about. Kinda overwhelming at times and I figure that we can only be in control of so many things before something bad happens. I'll try to stay positive and definitely test him after 2 y.o. just to know for sure, even out of curiosity and to inform our breeder. Maybe he will grow out of it as he ages anyway?? Haha...I guess humans do sit in some precarious positions,..and on the junk is no good |

Haha...I guess humans do sit in some precarious positions,..and on the junk is no good I know what you mean! I keep thinking, "Once he's xxx months/years, then I won't have to worry as much." Any little thing triggers a frenetic searching on the forum, or, God forbid, Google! |

| Yep, me too Jen. And nothing is black and white with them and there are variations and exceptions and contradictions for literally everything....managing the "what if"s and "yeah, but"s is maddening. I envision the day of relaxation to be when I can safely put a backpack on him and go for a long hike. At least then the puppyhood paranoia and frustrations will be gone and then it is more immediate things to worry about, not so many "what if"s and " yeah, but"s. I just want my lil buddy to be happy and healthy |

| RIGHT? After all it's always good to get something good out of a $200.00 vet bill for ingestion of foreign body. Apparently he wasn't good being xrayed lol, so they accidently went lower then they needed so hey I'll take that free news lol. |
