| For those who didn't read my posts in the hijack. Asia threw up her dinner yesterday and started swaying her head shortly after. She seemed out of it and wouldn't look straight at us. Her nose was very dry and she didn't want to walk too much. She would get up if I picked her up, but she wasn't all there. After about an hour she went and laid in bed with us and went to sleep. She woke up doing much better, ate her breakfast, and drank water. I was going to take her to the vet this afternoon, but when I got home from work to take her she was back to her normal self. Immediately started wrestling with Kody. I figured something she ate messed up her tummy, but I was wrong. She started up again about 45 minutes ago. Coincidentally it started at the exact same time as yesterday. She just threw up all of her dinner and is now laying on the couch next to hubby. Her eyes seem so out of it. They're like hazy. I'm not sure how to explain it. Same thing happened last night. I did some searching and this seems to be something to look into. NOT GOOD One of the members of the SFL meet up group page on FB mentioned that maybe it was a bad ear infection causing virtigo and the below link states this as one of the MAYBE causes: "Vestibular—Peripheral nervous system Infectious: Middle ear Fungal" http://www.petmd.com/dog/conditions/neurological/c_dg_ataxia#.UC7cUKOP3IV Loss of Balance (Unbalanced Gait) in Dogs | petMD www.petmd.com Ataxia is a condition relating to a sensory dysfunction that produces loss of coordination of the limbs, head, and/or trunk. This was her last night when it first happened: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x06jsRHBIaI Then this afternoon. See why I thought she was perfectly fine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ortXbWAFlUQ And this is NOW The first video is kind of dark so it might be hard to see the swaying of the head. It got a little worse after this before she threw up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NN376ephs78 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRVqO7zI2js I'm showing up at the vet at 8am and will wait all day for her to be seen if need be!

| I hope our R3 is okay, make sure to post as soon as you get any word from the vet! Though I know it's hard, try to just keep calm and not google everything it could potentially be. You will psych yourself out and get scared out of your wits. I will cross my fingers that it is not something long term or very serious! |

| Mel vids are private
I just find it so odd and so strange that it came, and then went, and came back again at the same time...
Perhaps it was from the serious chewing on the chick leg? If it is indeed a ear issue that may have affected the stuff in her ear causing the loss of balance and swaying? Totally thinking out loud but maybe... _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! Join our facebook meetup group! |

| Heather, I so stopped googling right now because I'm going to go crazy! Oops about the videos, fixed. I didn't give her chicken for dinner tonight though She ate her normal kibble. So weird that it happened at the same time! She just stood up to get a carrot and she can't even walk straight. She sways. Like she's dizzy and it's making her off balance. |

| I hope she feels better soon! I remember seeing dogs with vestibular disease when I worked at a vet clinic and its so sad to see them having so much trouble keeping their balance. |

| Just checked out the videos. She reminds me of how Koda is when he is still under the influence of anesthesia. |

Do you remember how they treated it? I believe it depends on what type of vestibular disease it is. It can be caused by ear infections, and that would be treated with drops/antibiotics. The dogs also were given anti-nausea medication to help with the vomiting. I think if it is vestibular disease it is most likely this based on her age. I think tumors can cause it too, but she is so young, so I really wouldn't worry about that. There was one older dog that I remember that had vestibular disease, but it was not caused by an ear infection or cancer. He called it something specific but I don't remember exactly. Basically the symptoms appear, then go away by themselves after a week or so. We just had to keep the dog confined and on anti-nausea meds and on sedatives to keep him relaxed. I would just try to keep her relaxed and calm until her vet appointment tomorrow. Poor baby! |

| Thanks Melissa!
She also jumps the slightest loud sound or quick movement around her. For example, there was a plastic bag behind where she was laying and when she leaned back and laid on it she got so scared! Or hubby went to kiss her, but didn't approach her slowly and she freaked again. |

| Melissa,
When Delilah was slipping into anaphylaxis - this would happen to her. It happened 3 nights in a row, third night was when we ended up in the hospital and her face swelled. Before that, all that happened was the shaking and throwing up.
Just what happened with us. It might not help, but I thought I would share.

| We're back from the vet and have no definite diagnosis. He says this is very rare case. She does have an ear infection in both ears, but it's only a mild yeast infection so it wouldn't be vestibular disease. Plus, if it was it wouldn't come and go. He mentioned that it could be her blood sugar levels dropping. If it happens again tonight he said to put maple syrup on her gums. He also thinks it might be mild epilepsy Said that with epilepsy the "episodes" occur for 24-48 hours and then disappear for about 6-8 weeks before returning. She's only 10 months and epilepsy usually doesn't show up until they're about 2-3 years old though. Did a fecal and it was fine. She doesn't have a fever either. So pretty much right now we're just waiting for the bloodwork results. Should have them on Monday. If he can't figure this out she'll need to see a neurologist. He wants me to give her half a Valium twice a day for 10 days to keep calm. She was fine while there so thank god I had the videos. He told me to make sure I keep them to show them to the neurologist (if she ends up having to go). THIS SUCKS! Right now i'm just praying that it doesn't happen again tonight |

| I was thinking Epilepsy last night after seeing the videos, blood sugar could be something too... I don't see the use of the Valium but I guess he's the doc. I would hold off on the Neuro for as long as possible. They'll want to do a shit ton of diagnostics and it's not a pretty price tag... We had to look into it for Ro. Hope she feels better _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! Join our facebook meetup group! |

| If it is a blood sugar thing, Karo syrup works faster than maple. Waiting for bloodwork is always nerve-wrecking. *hug* |

| Hopefully Asia gets better and it is nothing serious. I know that 10 months seems like a very young age but epilepsy unfortunately does occur at that age Our Siberian had her first one around a year I believe and they slowly worsened so if it is, it's a good thing you caught on to it. I really hope it is not anything to serious and that your Asia gets better! Lots of husky hugs coming from Cally & I! |

Hope she feels better He did say that he would do everything possible before sending us over to the neurologist because it can be pricey. I love that about him....he really tries for you not to spend a shit load of $. - hypers987 wrote:

Never heard of Karo syrup. Do they sell at the grocery store? I never thought I'd want it to be Monday so badly! - Robinhuskylover2231 wrote:

Oh, I'm so sorry Cally has epilepsy It's gotten worse with time? Do they have her on medication to control it? This is so scary
