Greetings everyone,

My name is Gertjan and I'm based near the coast in Belgium. I'm a 23-year old college student (Japanese Studies). We've very recently (2 days ago) expanded our pack with an 11 week old Siberian Husky puppy named Ripley. At the moment she has a copper/brown-ish fur and the blue-est eyes you've ever seen. (bad pictures below, she appears to be camera-shy). She is not my first dog, she is however, my first Siberian Husky.

Found this site earlier while trying to find more information on this wonderful breed and decided to register now that our newest family member has arrived.

Nice to meet you,

Gertjan and Ripley

Thanks bealer, have to read up on this breed before even considering it. They have quite a reputation for being difficult to raise. What do you mean watch out for those red huskies Very Happy ?

Ripley has been a treat so far, she seems to socialize well with children and other dogs. Crate training is going well, she enjoys spending time with it, automatically visits it when she's tired or needs some alone time (one of those times she's not curled up against my feet).

Only hickup so far is potty training. Unfortunately, living at the coast is as much a blessing as it is a curse. She will have a whole lot of open space to run and take long walks with, however during peak seasons (like now) there are a LOT of tourists.
Tourists form a problem as whenever she's sniffing out a good spot to pee they seem to appear out of nowhere going all "ooh" and "ahh" trying to call her/pet her which in return distracts her from doing her business. Walking is going good so far, the walks are long enough and timed well. She's just too distracted. She has accidents minutes after we get home. Am currently in the midst of looking for a more secluded place with few to no tourists/people.

Any advice on the matter would be greatly appreciated!
