Hi guys! i have an8 month old siberian husky...she had her 1st heat just a week ago...before having her 1st heat she wasn't eating well, about 3 days ago she was eating very well when i added sawdust to her food. but then recently for about 2 days already she lost her appetite again. i sometimes give her treats and biscuits every time i train her. our maids sometimes give her scrap or human food. but just sometimes. what should i do to bring back her appetite? please help guys. thanks!

umm.....sawdust? im confused as to what that is for dogs.....are you talking about real sawdust or something called that for dogs? Try adding a raw eggg in with her food or scramble her an egg. i dont really have ne other advice on this matter....some of the more experienced husky owners will comment shortly im sure :-)

I believe it's stuff leftover from sawing meat.

I'm a little confused about the sawdust as well. Why are you adding it to their food? Is it the meat shavings like Harrise said or are we talking about actual sawdust (which is a common filler in some low-quality dog foods).

Being in heat is known to cause a loss of appetite in some dogs. As long as she is still drinking there isn't much to worry about.

However, between your maids giving her people food and all the treats in between, you're probably spoiling her rotten, so her plain old dog food just isn't doing it for her anymore. What puppy food do you feed her? You may need to look into switching to a higher quality kibble.

I've only had one time with one dog that I felt a need to entice him to eat. I used chicken broth poured on the food and mixed it up by hand.
