Hi my name is Taz, me and my girlfriend just adopted our husky today, he is a beautiful boy at 1 year and a half old and I been doing a lot of reading because he was never trained by his previous owner, seems like I will have my work cut out for me haha, any tips would be awesome, I will post some pictures tomorrow

Check out our training, medical, and nutrition sections and you should find everything you could possibly need, with ever so few exceptions .

Most of the "normal" stuff has been asked and worked through a number of times by the great people here, and even the out of the ordinary things have posts all over.

If you can't find what you are looking for feel free to start a new post and everyone on this forum will offer what little advice they can with what they went through or what worked for them.

Group classes would be really good for you're pet, because not only will you get the training, but he'll also get the socialization. The dog park is a great way of burning off energy too!

Welcome from a fellow new member and parent. We got Jeter our 14 week old one week ago today! I agree that this site is amazing. There is so much knowledge here and just reading it has really helped us in our first week. I'm positive without all that folks have posted we'd be insane right now. So PLEASE spend some time reading all of the great posts and congrats on the addition to the family!

He seems to be really nervous about car rides and when he walks he seems to be looking for something, with his nose almost touching the ground, also he is afraid of stairs

I also got my 2 at an older stage and one thing I can really recommend is to get the Cesar Millan's (the dog whisperer) Mastering Leadership DVD Series. It really helped us a lot!!
Lindor was sitting and giving paw in the first week that we got her.

The other thing that also helped is a clicker, it really works!

Never even heard of it.... and I went on dog food adviser and of course whole grain corn is listed in there.... poor boy, been eating that crap his whole life

Give him a change to adjust, its a new home where everything is different. Luckily he is eating, Zimba in his first week just took 3 bits and sat and looked at me

So I will say give him a few days and see if it gets better, in the meantime get some nice meaty snacks.

He is eating but very little, and he seems to having trouble sleeping through the night, I guess give it a few days, lol gf is giving in to his crying though and sleeping on the couch while he sleeps next to her on the floor
