| I brought Yukon home on Saturday and introduced him to Nikko, who will be 9 months old on the 28th and is about 55lbs. They seem to get along pretty well, Nikko seems to really take to being a big brother to him. However when they play it seems to get kind of rough. I know Nikko can play rough, and he will put his mouth around the pup’s neck and body and Yukon will squeal. Nikko does not bite down or anything and the pup does not get injured; in fact Yukon will run away then come running back, tail wagging, for some more. Yukon will even jump up and grab ahold of Nikko’s fur and instigate it.
My question is how do I know when he goes too far? I don’t want Yukon to get hurt, and I never leave them together unsupervised. Today was a concern because Nikko had a rawhide stick and Yukon tried grabbing it from his mouth and Nikko growled and nipped at the pup, and Yukon wouldn’t stop yelping for about a minute. I threw the rawhide in the garbage after that.

| Hayden was about 7 months old when I got Nicky at almost 8 weeks old and I was very worried about similar issues, but they ended up being best friends. Hayden would and still does get rough with her and makes Nicky cry by biting her back, face, legs, etc. I just have to remind him that is unacceptable behavior and tell him "EASY!" I wouldn't give them treat's or anything they would find valuable together just yet for safety reasons, but you could try putting up a baby gate and giving each one a treat and see how that goes. You could also be on the floor with them while they have a treat, so you can monitor thing's easier.
My two pup's play very hard together and sound like they are trying to kill one another, but that's just how they play. Your's very well may play the same. Mine will show teeth, growl, snarl, drool, bite, give out a cry every now and then and the next minute they will be sleeping together giving kisses.
As far as knowing when it's going too far, it's something you will just know. Just like at the dog park, you just know when another dog is playing too rough with your's or vice versa. It's the same concept. Just use you're best judgement. When I feel Hayden is playing too rough with Nicky I correct him right away. I do that about 200 times a day lol. They will get use to one another in time, it just takes time for them to figure each other out. |

| How old are your two now? They look a lot like Nikko and Yukon Yukon is pure white too. Nikko does the same thing to Yukon, he will put the pup’s head in his mouth, bite his neck, legs, etc and Yukon will yelp and run away, then he will come running up to Nikko and pounce on him and start biting Nikko’s fur. It’s funny to watch! I’m sure they will be the best of friends too! I will say though that since I got Yukon, Nikko has been the most well behaved boy! Nikko would have a habit of digging in the back yard, and he would try to dominate me by jumping up on me, play biting, and mounting. Now he focuses that on the new pup lol. |

| There is one...It only worked for that one and now it gives me an error when I try to host the images so I will try tonight at home. I think I posted them in a different thread. My two boys are almost exactly 7 months apart in age. Before I got Yukon I was worried that I should have waited until Nikko was older before getting another one, but he seems to be adjusting great! |

| Koda was a little over 3 when we got Rogue. Koda scared the crap out of her and went pretty rough with her, but I just let it all work out on it's own and Ro eventually learned to have a backbone and ended up being the head honcho in charge within a few weeks. Koda knew when she was yelping because it was too much and would back off on his own. |

| My lab is 13 months and my husky is 6 months, they play very rough with each other. My Lab has learned to play like a husky lol. But if one cries out, the other stops immediately, its great! |
