| What kind of dishes are you feeding out of? It looks to me like he might have a little acne. Yes, they can get it, my cats got it really bad from eating out of plastic dishes when I first got them. The biggest way you can prevent that is to feed him using stainless steel or ceramic, which isn't as porous as plastic and easier to keep clean. Aside from that, throw the dish in the dishwasher periodically and it should clear up if that's what it is.
Your vet may also be able to prescribe something topical to help it heal, but if it is acne and you are using plastic dishes, a simple switch will probably do the trick. _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | I was using ceramic dishes but have switched to stainless steel about a week ago... i will still ask my vet if its acne or not - it doesn't seem to bother him but id hate for it to be tender and just get ignored! |

| Ginger had something that looked like that, but it also felt like a pimple - it was a small bump that was pink-ish. I took her to the vet and because it was the summer time, she said it could've been a bug bite which she sees a lot happen when it spring/summer - she didn't charge me the check since it was a quick check and it went away on it's own. If it sounds similar to what I just described, benedryl can help if it's a reaction to something.

| Its been pretty long term - at first i just assumed it was because his coat was still thickening up but he's grown quite a bit and that area has stayed the same since I've had him so not really sure what it is... The vet has seen him like that before and didn't mention anything... |

| I'm with Jennet, but the others are right about the acne as well. If it's stayed like that long term though, sounds more like ZRD. Or it could also be that his skin is irritated because he salivates and licks a lot, a condition called "skin fold dermatitis"...But it's not leaving the rusty coloration of the fur or skin. Bit of a long shot, but if it's either they're all treated relatively easy. (: |

| here's what bullet currently have (again). i have a hard time figuring out how to attach pictures to this site. but finally , i figured out they can be 'hosted'.

anyhow..so last sunday, i noticed some redness and loss of hair on his mouth. this time it's on the left side. and it's larger in surface area. the flakes are either white or black/grayish..and the surrounding skin can be pink or darker pink.
he haven't had this for awhile now since my last post.
wonder if the zinc supplement worked? for the first post above?
i've added to his diet organic salmon oil every other day for his skin & coat. although his coat is good and his skin is perfectly fine, except for the sides of his mouth.
