| This morning I saw worms in Saya's poop, Have not talked to my vet yet. I also heard that most worms are treatable from home, according to my vet. Well I have some pictures here. What kind of worms are these? which dewormer should I buy?

| If they are what I think they are, they're roundworms. Stark had those when we first got him too... it's naturally passed on from the mother to the puppies while they feed. Stark wasn't dewormed before he came to us so they were coming out of both ends (ewwwwww!) I just took him to the vet and got a round of medication (caramel flavoured so there was no problem giving it to him), and it was gone within a few days (of course we continued until the dosage instructions were finished). |

| I actually talked to my vet already he said to go get a dewormer from a pet store. He said that it is most likely treatable from home, He doesn't want me to waste unnecessary money apparently. Well any ideas as to what dewormer I should buy |

| I'd just look for one that treats all types of worms since you aren't sure which one. This one is at Petco and had pretty good reviews:

That does make sense... Stark was a day over 8 weeks and because his case was pretty bad, they told us that he should really see the Vet. Sorry I can't really help with the choices of dewormer, but I'm sure others can help. Also, I found this online: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/pic/article.cfm?aid=1086 - might be worth looking into? |

| They are in fact roundworms, Balon had them when I got him and they are so nasty. Take a sample to your vet, Panacur C what they gave Balon and it took 2 rounds of it to totally kill them all. They go in cycles. Please get the wormer from your vet, what they have is better then the over the counter stuff.
if your vet said to do it yourself then I recommend getting Panacur-C, it works very well. |

Balon my vet said to get a dewormer from a pet store. He also said they were roundworms and assured me that they were easily treatable. I guess he feels like there isn't much of a difference between otc treatments and the ones they sell |

| You do treat in rounds, because the stuff only kills adult worms (even the vet's prescription would only kill adults) so generally you treat it in 2 or 3 rounds so that you get any new adults. I think if you look online (or talk to your local pet store people) you can find a good one, follow it's instructions, and you'll be fine.
Good luck. |

| LOL - I don't know why I'm all about deworming today -- I found some info (since I was wondering what the difference between Panacur vs. Panacur-C was). I found this reply on a site:
http://www.vetinfo.com/vets/answers/panacur-from-vet-vs-panacurc-from-online-same-for-dogs#b
My hunch is saying to get it from the petstore and not online though... |

| Thank you all so much! I'm impatiently waiting for the petstore to open up. they open at 10 am. It is 8:48 here in NY. By the way I don't see the Panacur on the pet stores. I guess it is prescribed by vets. According to the chart by angipoo Panacur and safeguard treat the same kind of worms. ANybody ever used safe guard |

| @ Angipoo I don't think you can get Panacur from a petstore. The best one I found is Safe guard. It has the highest ratings |

| I buy equine panacur from the feed store. Dosage is different but applied math helps to straighten that out _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! Join our facebook meetup group! |

| Hmmm, if you can't get to Petco, see if you can ask your vet for a prescription. I'm not even sure if they do that or not, but if you get a prescription and get the medicine from the vets, you won't have to wait to get it?
I was looking at 1800petmeds, and they only ship during business days (unless you want to spend SOOO much more money), so my newbie advice would be to check back with the vet. |

| There should be directions right on the box, mine were powder packets that I just poured on his food. Glad you found it! Oh and be ready because you will probably see more worms and some will be live, and he could throw some up too if its a bad infestation. Good Luck

| We found out at Char's vet check for his third shots that he was loaded with round worm. He had loose stool for weeks, but I thought it was the switch over of food. She gave us interceptor, he took one pull that night and has to have another in two weeks and a last one two weeks after that. The morning after the pill I saw lots of dead worms in his poop. I had never seen them before that. His poop has been improving some, but he is still having loose ones. Anyone know how long it should take to clear? He pooped this afternoon and it was the beast one he had ever had, but then an hour later he had a mum pie poop! I am just tired of picking up messy poop. |

| Hey,
I found the dosage guide on the dewormer's website. Link --> http://www.safe-guard-for-dogs.com/safeguard-dosage.asp
Make sure it's the same one that you have -- Hope this helps! |

| You could try Diatomaceous Earth, Food Grade. A puppy would need a 1/2 teaspoon daily. |

| I would think so. Stark got his dewormer from the vet so a LOT came out the next day (again, *sigh* from both ends), but he was still getting rid of them for the next few days. Go with the treatment recommended on the pack and she should be a perfect little puppy! |
