| So I decided to switch Alpine to a grain-free diet. He was on Purina One -Large Breed puppy & I contacted TOTW to get samples. While I was trying out the samples he loved TOTW. So I went out & bought a full bag of Pacific Stream & as soon as he started the 1/2 & 1/2 mixture he would pick out the old food and eat it, turning his nose to the TOTW. Figuring he was just being picky, I decided to cold turkey the TOTW last weekend. I give him 3 cups of food a day, and he would not eat! He would always smell it, turn his nose up & walk away. I knew he was hungry & decided to wait it out (since I've always heard they won't starve them selves). Well he would eat very little every couple days & he ended up losing 2lbs in this last week, I started to see his hip bones & it worried me. I don't want to starve him just because I want him on a grain-free diet. So this weekend I decided to see what his reaction would be to the Purina One. I mixed it 3-1 (3 being Purina, 1 being TOTW) and he ate 2 cups instantly! Talking about stubborn! Has anyone experienced this when trying to switch foods?? |

| He might not like the protein source in the TOTW. While mine always love fish and nothing but fish, every dog is different. What is the protein source in the Purina One? Try finding the TOTW brand that matches that.
Most stores will let you return a bag with the receipt if your dog doesn't do well on it or like it for some reason. I would try a small bag of another flavor of TOTW and see what he does. _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

| The protein source for Purina One is chicken & he loves it. I didn't see any TOTW with chicken, so I will be doing some more research & see what else is out there. Thanks for the advise |

Thanks for the advice on the protein source. I switched him to Blue Buffalo Wilderness , which has the same protein as purina one & he loves it |
