So I stop by the vets office the other day to pick up my fish oil supplement I give my lab (she tend to have dry skin). While I'm waiting for the larger size bottle from the back office a lady comes in with a gorgeous young golden. The dog is severely limping and whining, obviously in pain and the lady is just dragging it to the desk. I offered to carry him but she said no he can walk, REALLY? So I listen, she tells the front desk that he did "something" to his leg while he was chained in her backyard. Ok they say so it was today? No idiot says, it was LAST WEEK!

I swear to god its a good thing my supplement came out and I paid for it because I just cannot believe how dumb some or just uncaring some people can be and it was real hard to keep my mouth shut!

Sadly alot of people are like this, I have some of them in my family too :-(

A few years ago I saw a show on Animal Planet, don´t know the name anymore something with New York. In one case they showed an owner let his dog live with a broken leg for half a year. In the end the vet had to amputate the leg.

I hear this everyday. But working in the vet world, I have to keep my mouth shut.

When the vet told me that Luka's wound was two days old, I felt sick because I hadn't noticed it earlier :/ It baffles me how people can ignore a BROKEN LEG!!!!!

Yes and I know this dogs leg had to be broken. And he was gorgeous and you could tell such a sweetie, so why keep him tied up? UGH People....

They don't care, they a dog at their house, we all have pets. Pets are animals that get the amount of attention they need and everything else they need. Weldon the Parvo lab that we rescued from a backyard was a dog for someone. They hardly fed him or even gave him water and he was outside in the winter. Now he is a pet, in a home that loves him. It is annoying to hear stories about dogs that don't get treated the way they should. I got cali with a bump on her right quarter. I asked the person i got her from if he ever got it checked out and how long it had been there. He never took her to get it checked out and it was there since he switched to the new food. Literally the bag of dog food was white with some red and blue on it and said "dog food". Turned out she had an allergic reaction and was taken care of by quality food (which i put her on totw when i got her) and antiboitics. It was all good till just recently when i switched her to fromm's food. So I put her back on totw and seeing how that does. Then if not better in a week, I'll take her to the our new vet to get it checked out.

So true and so sad.

You'd be surprised how many people just drop thier dog off at the vet for an appt and leave them to go do shopping of something. I'm like... "uh... can you at least fill out a physical exam sheet so we have an idea of what the appt is about, you know, how long they have _______* insert illness*" While they roll their eyes and mumble under their breathe. If the dog or cat is an inconvenience then why to you have one?!?!?! So ridiculous.

Yesterday, while working at Petsmart, I had someone come in for food. Of course I had to ask which they were looking for so I could point them in the right direction. The woman replied "Cheap Shit, damn thing is my husbands dog."

I was reading a forum the other day where a woman was bitching that the man next door neglected his cats and let them breed. She complained she had a cat allergy and there were kittens all over her garden. So she called the pound to have them all just taken away, she actually referred to them as 'rodents'. I said they would probably all be put to sleep, that many on one go, and if her garden was more important than the lives of 30 kittens. She said she was more important than the kittens or something similar, and I could just take my animal rights 'animals are better than humans crap' elsewhere. I deleted myself from the forum before I got banned.

I had 2 cats die within a year over 5 years ago, one from cancer and one from poison, and I have never stopped wondering if I missed something, if somehow I could have saved them. I just don't understand, and I never will, how people just cannot care at all.
