| Ok I know taking on a husky that it would include a crap load of hair. Kyra started shedding a lot once she hit the 2.5 month mark. Is this normal? I thought I had a little more time to prepare lol but I could brush her multiple times a day and get 2 full brushes of hair each time.
What really got me was I did laundry today and as I was pulling all the clothes out of the dryer, they were covered in hair! Gah!! Lol what are the tricks you guys do for your clothes? Each time I go out I need to use 3-4 sheets of a lint roller to get all the hair off me, is there a more simple way to this that I'm missing out on? :p |

| It's about the same for me and Dragon is a short hair. I have a lot of black and I work in dark blue scrubs so I carry a lint roller everywhere |

| It's bad when the girls get packing tape and start tapping my scrubs at work because of Roxy's shedding, she's short hair too! I have come to learn and now accept that Black is just not Husky friendly. >.< |

| Yuki has always shed a lot, but shes pretty fluffy. My fluff-monster Erm yeah, there's no shedding-preventive. Otherwise my mom would be on it tehe. Lint rollers are your best friend |

| For those of you that don't have one, the under coat rake is your BEST friend. |

| Do you use a dryer sheet when you put your clothes in the dryer? That can help some, but you can still expect plenty of fur to be stuck to your clothes. Tips? My only tip would be not to worry about wearing fur. I am always covered in husky fur and I could care less. I'd probably have lost my mind a long time ago if I cared about fur on my clothes. Even when I worked I wore it proudly to work. _________________ |

| I gave up years ago lol I work with animals, so no one ever questions why I look furry at work I don't even roller myself anymore if I'm not going to a special occasion. If I go out and some random person mentions that I'm hairy, I usually retort " I'm sry that you have a problem that I have dogs". That usually shuts them up. I brush Kale weekly with a greyhound comb, and monthly with a deshedding comb like pictured. |

I do use a dryer sheet! haha - I'm alright with the hair, just sucks so i'll have to spend so much money on lint refills haha and it's Eric that worry's me more. He is a perfectionist when it comes to his clothes...he may have a small breakdown when he notices his CLEAN clothes are already covered in hair lol. I may need to invest in an under coat rake, we did purchase the furminator but i'm not sure how much I like it, I've used it very very gently on her after brushing her a few times and it still gets a lot more hair but I can definitely see how it can be tough on them. My friend has an older husky and uses a furminator on her and you can see the lines in their coat from using it, it looks terrible! |

| I think it's weird that the shedding started so early. The first shed, or loss of the puppy fur, is nothing compared to what is to come. The more you brush out, the more fur that goes into the trash and less on your clothes and furniture...that's my theory. So during the "coat blow" I will brush Sabaka once or twice a day. I also try to buy less black and navy and more heather colors. (Heather is like colors naturally woven with husky hairs!) |

| I few things I do to keep it under control: I have a certain coat that I wear when grooming (I do it outside) and take it off when I'm done. No laundry goes on the floor, and I vigorously shake off hairy clothes (outside) before putting them in the dirty laundry basket (which I keep in the laundry room where the dog rarely goes) I save the worst clothes for the last load and then wipe down the washer and run an empty load after that. Clean the lint trap in the dryer after every load and sometimes halfway through a load if it's really bad. Clean clothes go immediately into the closet or drawers.

| Daily brushing with an undercoat rake and pin brush....preferably outside. As soon as it seems most of the whole undercoat is loose and ready to come out it's off to the grooming salon for a warm bath to help it come out and a high velocity dry. Shedding done essentially. |

I've stopped counting how many I get. When it look's like I have an extra dog laying beside me that wasn't there before, then I'm impressed. As far as tips for clothing on hair ... well, I haven't discovered it yet! Other than a sticky roller, I got nothing. My sister and I just came back from lunch and right before we pulled up we were brushing the hair off each other before walking in. Don't worry, you will come accustomed to dog hair and rolling yourself off will come to be part of you're daily routine. |

| Ok so i'm going to get a undercoat rake. I found this one on Amazon that has a lot of reviews. Thoughts? would this be a good one to use?

| Im watching intently on responses on undercoat rakes. is there a post on rakes yet? (brands, sizes, use) Im about to buy Charlies grooming gear but i am uncertain as to what to buy. That rake on amazon looks like people really dig it though. I just want to hear it straight from the huskies mouth. |

| Melissa, any undercoat rake will work fine. The one I use is a double row, rotating pin undercoat rake. No special brand, bought it at a pet store for $8 and it works great. It's one of my favorite de-shedding brushes. _________________ |

| save the hair - there are places on the internet that you can send the hair to and they will make knitted gifts out of your dogs hair! pretty cool I thought........ its like gathering wool from a sheep |

I thought someone has said before that the furminator isn't good for husky coats because it actually breaks the fur, or something along the lines? |

| i have never heard this.. maybe if you use it too hard? i got the idea from Gone To The Snow Dogs.. She said that it was fine to use, and that it only takes out the loose fur? I don't know. |

| I have the furminator as I mentioned. I used it very lightly on her and it does get the hair that the brush misses after but I can see how it can pull and break the hair. My friend has a 1.5 year old husky that he uses the brush on and you can tell so easily because the coat is ruined from the lines of the brush where it's broken all the hair. Or maybe he's using it wrong? Lol |

| He could be! Cause on a tutorial i watched on it, it said you should use it lightly, it's not necessary to go hard!! |

| I, personally, have never experienced the negative effects people talk about with the Furminator, but Pippa has a pretty thin coat to begin with (aside from her hilariously fluffy butt). However, I decided against taking the risk that it was damaging her coat and now I use something like this. It does a great job removing loose hair from the undercoat and she actually seems to enjoy it to some degree.
If you do decide to use the Furminator, do use it gently and not every day. |

| I think the ripping and tearing of fur while using the Furminator really depends on the coat of the dog. I had been using it on Maya and Sophie without issue for a long time but they have slick short coats. If i used it on Kay it would rip and tear her fur. I just recently got a slicker brush and i love it! I use it now and have no need for the Furminator. Though i did just use it on the top of Maya's head to rip this bur like thing out of her fur. |
