Sorry this is a few days late, been a rough weekend at home with the pups. So Lucy went in on Thursday to be spayed and microchipped ect... I picked her up on Friday and brought her home. Her bright blue eyes were all blood shot and she was very tired and crabby. Libby didnt like the smells she had on her and kept her distance for about an hour. My ex was over to take Libby for the weekend to give Lucy time to heal. Just before he was about to leave with Libby...Libby decided she wanted to jump on top of Lucy which she cried out and reacted with turning and going after Libby. They were in an all out fight. I grabbed them both by the back of there scruff and screamed NO. They both released and Libby ran off to hide. I checked them both over to find Libby had a 2 inch tear down her ear that was just gushing blood....So into the car with a towel and back to the vet. She was there for 6 hours, they had to put her out and 10 stitches later she is healing.
I also asked the vet about Lucy's eyes and they said it could be from the gel they put in them and to watch to see if they get worse. They seem to be getting better.

So after Lucy's $227.00 bill which I thought was cheap for everything they did. Libby cost another $204.00. my checkbook was smoking after that day.

I have Lucy at home and Libby is with my ex, we decided to keep them seperated while they heal. I took Lucy there on Sunday just to see and Libby was shaking in fear.

How do I bring them back together so they both feel safe?
Any help will be appreciated.

I'm sure everyone's a bit shaken up after the episode but the worse thing you can do is to still live in that moment. I would start with walks with you and your ex with the girls. Don't force them to be together- just walk. You don't want to continue to isolate them from one another, because the last interactions they've had have been a fight and then fear.

Thank you Kristina, it was a scary moment and I keep saying that they need to know its not an everyday thing. It was just a bad situation. They will sniff each other but just keep there distance and I said it will be fine, its not like they are fighting over being the lead dog, it was just the moment. My ex on the other hand thinks they need to be seperated for awhile and I feel they need to be around each other and know that they still have to get along. I am not saying force them but have them at leasat see each other.
I have had them together 2 times now and I just monitor them. I think I will have them play at a nuetral place and it will be fine. It was a stressful day for all.

With supervision they should be fine, Kiara has gotten into it only a couple times with other dogs at the park and right after its like nothing happened, they are very forgiving.

How scary Christine Sure glad they're both OK even though Libby had to be put under for stitches. I really have no advice since I've never dealt with anything like this and I'm knocking on wood as we speak! With a diva in the house I never know what's going to go down. Luckily nothing serious has happened yet!
