PostSubject: First time raw feeder help!!!!   First time raw feeder help!!!! EmptyThu Jul 26, 2012 1:32 am

So after getting some very good advise, from one of the friendliest member of this forum I have decided to go raw. I have read about it but I still need some help. Saya is currently at 20 pounds I have to feed her .4 pounds per day but I want help balancing it out. Should I give her one boneless chicken breast, one chicken liver and a bit of liver, or what combination should I use when I start feeding her tomorrow.

Please help me, I really don't know how I should start, although I'm dying to start Saya on raw

You need to feed according to her ADULT weight so that means assume 45 lbs... You would 24 oz. a day Smile

Depeding on her age I would either feed 10% of her current weight daily, or 2-3% of her adult weight. Whichever works with her better. Usually I would recommend feeding 10% until it overtakes 2-3% of adult (ideal) weight and switch to that.

You'll need a basic guideline of 10% bone 10% organ and 80% meat (roughly) you can find the bone content of most bone-in meats online. Such as chicken quarters are about 36% bone. Be careful with the amount of organ, it can cause loose and runny stool if feed too much too quickly.

I'd leave the liver out for the first week or two, just to let her adjust to the change in diet. A younger dog shouldn't have as much issue in switching foods, but accidents can still happen.

Do dogs ever get full when they eat raw? Saya eats her meal and then starts liking the bowl a few times lol makes me think she is still hungry
