I've had Finnick for a few months and it has been such a roller coaster with him lately!
I mentioned a couple weeks ago that he was skin and bones and I couldn't get weight on him....well, after treatment of i believe it was whip and roundworms, a full blood panel and four different vets we haven't gotten anywhere. He weighs 44lbs, which most vets say is normal, but I can see ALL of his ribs and his hips are very prominent. His back arches up like a cat almost and I can feel his spine.
This dog is by no means starved, he eats 4 cups of Acana a day and was even on Nutri-cal. Not to mention the food my toddler slips him under his table. Lol
When I first got him we had him on TOTW but it made him sick, so shortly after we switched all the dogs to Acana and they love it.
The last vet we saw said it could be genetics and bad breeding. Since I have no clue as to who his breeders are I wouldn't know...but could bad breeding cause him to not gain weight? I'm at a loss and so frustrated with it now.

Hmmm interesting so nothing is coming back from blood panels or worm testing? I know when we first got Balon he had a really nasty case of roundworms, so bad that he threw up live ones, I have NEVER seen that before nor do I want to ever again. He was a little skinny too, but hes pretty much perfect right now. His coat was a little dry to and he had horrible breath. All from the worms. It took 2 rounds of panacur c to get rid of them.

Balon when stretching arches his back like a cat too, and I can feel his spine somewhat, but I cannot see his ribs or hip bones. I can feel his ribs but really just the last two, which is what my vet said I should be able to do when he is the perfect weight, they are thrilled with his weight. He eats Blue Wilderness and is doing so well on it. The arching is something I have seen other huskies do, and even my mixes did it. I think that's normal.

I know there are things you can do to add weight, Satin Balls are one thing have you tried them, google it for the recipe there are several different ones but they are a hamburger meat based ball you make to fatten up a dog that is too thin. I had to use them on one of my greyhounds when she got sick with cancer.

I am unsure what bad breeding could do to his weight, I will leave that to the experts on here.

Yep, his blood panels came back perfect. His teeth and coat are great too. I have a recipe for satin balls, but figured I'd see what others think before I give them to him.
You would think with how much he is eating that he wouldn't need anything extra...so it's frustrating.

It could be breeding. First, he's a young male right? Some go through a long, lanky, awkward phase where they look all leg and no substance to them. Hence why some show breeders call it their "ugly" phase. lol. Second, I've seen a female sibe that came from a horrible breeder and she is so light! She looks a bit skinny, but healthy and very hyper. She ran at me and jumped on me at full speed and I swear it was like a feather hit me. If Siku did that to me and this female is about the same size as Siku, I would have been flat on my back. Siku is solid muscle compared to this other female. I know that female gets plenty of exercise and has a great owner, so it's not that she's lacking muscle due to be stuck in a crate or whatever. She's just really light boned!

Yeah, he is around a year old..and he is totally the definition of lanky! He stands at 24in tall.
I will have to bring them to a meet up soon so you can see him in person. The difference between he and snow is night and day lol snow is solid and muscular and he is nothing like that at all. He has his hyper moments and can run for days. I bike them both at night (about 5-7 miles a week) But just started this about two weeks ago with him because of his age. before that he was just walked about a mile or so a day...but still played constantly with our greyhound.
Other than him looking thin he is in perfect health and hasn't had any other problems since the worms...but I guess I'm just uncomfortable with how he looks.

When we first got him we thought it was because he wasn't fed enough, and his severe food aggression took quite a while to break..but now I just don't know.
