was wondering what is best. i was lookin into raw feeding but am wondering would it hurt any to raw feed a few times? say 3 or 4 a week or mix it with kiddle? what age is ok to start and is there any problems that come with it? do they become more "wild"? i heard that raw feedin can change the temperment in a dog. and i live where nikita love to hunt small animals. (not a problem) but i do not want it to become one with cats or other pets or stays.

There is nothing wrong with feeding raw a few times week. A lot of people recommend not mixing with kibble as they digest at different rates. Most people who feed both kibble and raw will feed them as separate meals, for example kibble in the morning and raw in the evening. I have fed kibble and raw together in the same meal many times and have never had a problem, as have plenty of other people. Do what you think is best and what works best for your dog.

They can start on raw as soon as they are weaned off mothers milk. Raw is their natural diet and is the best possible diet for them, it's what they are meant to eat so no there shouldn't be any problems. Can you be more specific about the problems question?

That is absolutely not true. Raw feeding does NOT make a dog's temperament change and it does not make them more wild or suddenly have a blood lust. If your dog is a husky, which I am assuming considering you're on a husky forum, then they will have a high prey drive not matter what you feed. So your sibe will be hunting prey animals (yes that will include cats, small dogs, small pets, etc) whether you feed kibble or raw.

Variety is key. I feed quail, chicken, duck, turkey, venison, beef, tripe...

A variety of meats that agree with her is best. There is no one best meat, variety is the spice of life. Wink

I feed chicken more than any other meat because it's cheapest, but I also rotate in turkey, pork, and beef on a regular basis. Other meats like lamb, venison, and duck are less frequent. My sibe cannot tolerate fish so I steer clear of it. Of course there are lots more meat sources.

Freya gets pork, chicken, beef and lamb. I mostly fgeed beef and chicken because I can get it cheaper.
I feel dry in the morning but raw in the evenings. I ran out of dry food adn couldnt get to the store that sell her dry food for 2 weeks so she was only on raw for that time, but she was perfectly fine.

THere are so many myths when it copmes to feeding raw. It's best to do your research bvefore jumping on into feeding raw.

I feed Stark raw - and every single change has been for the better (well, except having to smell green tripe No )!

There's a facebook group up about raw feeding in and around Toronto. Have a look at it and join if you like... there are some raw food supplies on there with pretty decent price points as well. Smile
