Mya and Asia have been playing almost daily, but I'm still not sure if it's "playing" on Mya's end. I think that it starts off as playing, but then she tries to show Asia who's boss. She'll smell Asia's girly parts and then put her paw on top of her as if trying to hold her down. Asia will hold her own against Mya now so I have constantly watch them to make sure that it doesn't turn into more.

Another thing that I've noticed is that when Asia is playing with Mya and Kody tries to get in the mix Asia gets upset at him and bites him as in saying to leave them alone. She doesn't bite him hard...it's more of a warning. Kody and Asia are BFFs and are always playing. Then when Mya is actually giving Asia the time of day poor Kody gets left out. It's just a weird situation. They're probably still trying to sort out Asias position in the pack.

I watched this three times trying to figure it out, what it looks like to me is that Mya wants to be alpha and is trying to let Asia know she's boss, which is why she doesn't want Kody involved. I wouldn't call it fighting, just a bit of a dominance thing. Just my guess.

I think Myas problem is just that she doesn't know how to play with other dogs. She knows how to play with Kody, but dogs don't generalize very well. And Asia is a female. A female who is getting older and becoming an adolescent.

From what I know and have seen from Mya I think she's doing great and it just seems like this is a transition period with Asia getting older and Mya getting used to her.

That is exactly how Embry plays with Ares and I've taken it as a dominance issue since they're both males, Ares isn't neutered and holds his own now with both Embry and Zoey. It's never escalated into anything for us so I don't worry about it.

Oh yeah, she's definitely doing great for being Mya She does know how to play with Kody. It was never like this so it must be the female vs female thing. At least she's acknowledging Asia now intsead of just growling at her when she comes to close. Asia still respects Mya so that's good. Just hope it stays this way

yup he does. the way Ares and Embry play versus Ares and Zoey or Embry and Zoey are very different. Embry and Ares are very vocal and a lot of hip/shoulder pushing, vocal and knocking one down on the ground.

Looks like Siku being a bitch at the park! She sometimes selects a dog at the park, no clue what makes her choose the certain dog other than it is usually a submissive one, and then proceeds to growl loudly like that, bump them, bear her teeth, try to stand over them, etc. I usually make her knock it off, cause I know it scares the other people there and usually the dog is scared too. But a couple of times with the owners permission I just let it happen to see what would happen. She did it to a big male husky who I knew could take care of himself. After acting submissive for a little while and her not letting up he finally attacked her. It was brief and suddenly they were best of friend! Dogs are weird. I guess she decided if she couldn't dominate him that he might be cool to just play with. Though I know Mya has a history of getting into fights, so I'm not sure if you should let it escalate that much or not.

I can see that leading to a fight if one of them is in a bad mood. But what you have on the video just looks like a dominance thing and not fighting.

You know, she can't be TOO nice. That wouldn't do good things for Mya's rep, since she is supposed to be so tough.

That is alot better then when I brought mika to meet Cali. Boy did the fur fly. They didn't draw blood but it was terrible sounding. I did get a video of one fight they had. If you saw the girls now, you wouldn't think they ever had the problem. They get in the crate (where mika likes to eat) together and the dog mansion in the kennel.

They just needed to figure each other out. I think Mya is doing the same thing just being a lil nicer than cali did.

In the video I definitely see Asia holding her own, but she is not (from what I see) trying to take over alpha. Funny 2 females are always tougher then 2 males. Males will posture a lot but rarely flat out fight. Females are way quicker to fight over alpha status.

You are right to keep an eye on it, but I would make sure you are supporting Mya as alpha, which I am sure you are.

That really isn't that bad.. You should see Blaze and Kerian go at it.. I think they are just playing.. and Mya just letting her know she is in charge and Asia is saying okay.... but play..

But what do I know this is the first time I have ever had more than one dog..

Yep, I definitely let Asia know that Mya is alpha and that she needs to respect her. Which, she does, but she does like to test Mya's limits. Not test her alpha-ness (lol), but more like see how far she can get Mya to go as far as playing. Asia will go off barking at Mya while having her butt up in the air. Like saying..yeah now what? But the minute Mya gets too close she backs up
