| Hello all! My name is Jackie. I have adopted a female Siberian Husky a few weeks ago. Her name is Juneau. Currently 9 weeks and 5 days! I purchased her on craigslist (Not proud of that, but she is a great pup). Recently took her for the 9-wk vaccinations and she was VERY well behaved while being examined/treated. They said she was pretty healthy, so I am reassured about my craigslist purchase lol. I am currently feeding her Simply Nourish right now because I was in a last minute purchase. I know to stay away from grain/corn foods. I am planning on switching her to Merrick after my wallet allows it. lol. Any other food suggestions are welcome! When I first got her! I get to take her to work with me, so she's around many people and I get to constantly watch her. Everyone LOVES her and always comments on her eyes. She likes guys better than me. Little eye booger action goin' on here lol. Chillin' at work. Slacking!! She always lays down underneath me in the chair. It looks uncomfortable to me but I guess she likes it. Posing. Tilting her head because I was making a whining noise at her lol. After a bath. I am impressed with how fast she is learning how to do the potty training. I think it was around day 5 or 6 when she learned to go to the back door and wait for me to let her out. Smart! She LOVES to get my boyfriend's socks. Gross, lol. Very playful. She is being crate trained and doing well, except for the occasional whining/howling (as expected). The first night that I got her, I was up every 2 hours. It didn't bother me though, lol. I can definitely tell that she is a husky because she loves to DIG! Man lol. She is always inside and in the AC. I hope to get her a kiddie pool in the yard, but a sprinkler will work for now. Helping me dig a hole for our tree. lol Loves her hide. Hope you enjoyed the photos. Many more to come! -Vin |

| Welcome! Juneau is gorgeous, especially her mask! I hope it doesn't fade as she gets older.
Good news on the 9 week vet report, but definitely keep an eye on her as she grows, sometimes they don't manifest problems until they're older. My girl came from a BYB so we watch her as well, because I don't know all of her lineage. Also, since you got her so young, you may have to work a little harder on socialization and bite inhibition, but be careful before she's had all of her shots if you're going to take her in public.
As far as food goes, Merrick is a great food and the price tag isn't terrible. We feed Taste of the Wild, which we can get for about $40 per 30 lb bag. It's another very good grain free food, but their parent company had some issues recently and a lot of people were turned off from the brand. Blue Wilderness is also pretty reasonably priced, and Earthborn is another very good food that's comparable in price to Wilderness and TOTW. There are loads of food threads on here, so definitely poke around and see what you can learn.
Good luck with puppyhood, and I can't wait to see Juneau grow up! _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | Welcome Jackie and Juneau!
Can't wait to hear more "Juneau tails" and see pics of her growing up! I personally like the Merrick food company and their products. We are currently feeding one of the Merrick brands that is not grain-free, however, they make a nice grain-free line of kibble as well!

Good luck with puppyhood, and I can't wait to see Juneau grow up! Thanks! Yeah, I love her mask. It's definitely different. It kinda had me second guessing if she was really a Siberian Husky. Can you tell from the pictures if she's a real Husky? She's not AKC registered, but that doesn't guarentee a purebred. Yeah, I think I got her at 7 weeks and 4 days. She DID come with shot records. I took them in the vet to make sure that they were all correct. She will get rabies shots at 12 wks. Thanks for the food suggestions! I'll keep an eye out. - SabakaMom wrote:

Thank you! Yeah, I've owned 3 before her in my family. We had a half poodle/half sheltie, an Airdale Terrier, and a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier (still living). I've wanted a husky since I was 8, and now that I'm on my own, I got one for myself! - Hayden_69 wrote:

There will definitely be more. I take tons of pics of her. I think it annoys my facebook friends. Y'all seem really nice! I can't wait to do some researching in my spare time to learn more about my new husky. |

| Your puppy is so cute! Good luck its great that you can take the puppy to work. There are many knowledgeable nutrition people on here that can help you with food. Oh and having an AKC registered puppy does in fact guarantee that the dog is a purebred. Of course it doesn't guarantee health or temperament. Looks like you got a good one! |

Thank you! Yes it is. She loves the attention. Too bad I can't bring her to class, lol. Oh, lol. I guess I read wrong somewhere. I wanted to register her, but the parents have to be registered too. She's great. Just needs to tone down the biting a little bit, but she knows it's not nice. I've been freezing her rope toy and she loves to chew on that. - dbingham12 wrote:
