Very good read... but makes me worried. 12 weeks... I never knew that. We got Snow at 8 weeks. Does that mean that she might become a biter? She is a little mouthy but we're working with her. Will that be enough?

Eight weeks is the minimum age at which they should go to their new home. I think they really need to learn bite inhibition before about 18 weeks old. I really like the puppy training textbook at Dog Star Daily. It tells you about developmental priorities for socialization here and about teaching bite inhibition here. If you do that, then Snow will turn out just fine I expect you are doing most of it already.

I got Kale at five weeks and he's not mouthy and very well-adjusted; course i worked hard with him and socialized him with every type of situation imaginable before he turned 5 months. I didn't have to take him, but i know he wouldn't have lived another 48 hours. He was a sick boy.

Great resource! Thanks for posting! I think the article is a great cautionary tale for people looking at breeders.
