Ruby & I have been in Houston, TX since Monday night. (We're currently on our way back to NOLA) With it being a hefty little road trip due to so many cars evacuating back and forth, we've (my boyfriend and I) decided to lower her intake on water and food to prevent possible car sickness, and she's been great with that. Although she's been her normal self, hyper and happy and all.. it's odd to us that she had her moments in Houston where she won't even sniff her kibble. There was also other moments where she'd tear up her food. Is it possible that exhaustion may be a factor? Or perhaps that she wasn't getting enough water in order to have an appetite to eat? It's not like we deprived her of food or water at all, so please don't assume that. Its only while we we're on the road that we wouldn't give her as much as normal. Keep in mind that this is her first road trip and obviously my first road trip with her. So I'm not sure of what's the possible symptoms a pup could have during a situation like this.

I'd probably say that being in a different place has her upset and nervous and she's waiting until she absolutely has to eat, I wouldn't be too worried about it if she's still happy and hyper

That's exactly what I was thinking, but I just wanted to ask and see others opinions. She also threw up once in the carrr! My poor baby. But she's been great. Building a ton of muscle with my boyfriend running with her practically 3 times a day. I'll post a few pics in a bit!

She may not be getting enought exercise being you guys are in transit could be why she isn't eating as much. Blaze does this all the time when he doesn't get much exercise he skips meals.

Ruby's been getting a great deal of exercise while being in Houston. The only time she isn't is when she's napping, asleep, and in her kennel for the car ride. (Its 6-7 hours) But weve stop twice to let her stretch.

| I honestly think more than exercise or water intake, it's the disruption. I took Ghost on a road trip now 2 weeks ago from FL to Chicago, stayed at my parents' house for a week, and then drove back a week ago. There was a lot of disruption and she was in unfamiliar surroundings (only been there once before, almost a year ago), and she wouldn't touch her food the entire time I was there. I talked to Tori at great length about that (and some other behavioral issues that popped up), and she said it was normal for the disruption. She told me that Koda never eats when she has him at her parents' house either. She should return to normal within a day or so of you guys getting back.
Everything ok with your house in NOLA? My in laws in Luling rode it out, and still don't have power back. _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword.
