Hi everybody, I discovered these forums as I was researching the breed and it's awesome.
My puppy Simba is only 6 weeks old, I bought him from a family friend who knew a backyard breeder. I'm a first time puppy parent and after doing a bunch of research I realized that he is way too young, but the breeder is not answering. I asked the family friend to keep the puppy with his German Shepard litter, they're a bit older but still puppies for a week or two. Is this a good idea or would the damage be done?

Here are some pics of him:

Welcome to the forum! He's tiny and so cute! Porbably too late now, but I think adding him to the GSD litter would depend on how the GSD mother reacts. Might be good for him if she accepts him. But you can just start working now on socialization and bite inhibition yourself with him and he should be fine. We got Siku at 6 weeks and I just worked a lot on bite inhibition and she turned out fine. Look for a good puppy class near you and talk with the instructor about it.

Thanks so much for your reply, he loved his temporary litter, actually the family friend was finally able to get a hold of the breeder and had one of Simba's siblings there with him for a day or two, they played a lot. Simba was a alot more active than his brother though. They said he would play with all the dogs especially the big german shepard father.

We brought him home last night and the ride was somewhat difficult. He didn't like the box we had him in but when he put him in our lap he was sound asleep the whole way, we took a few minute bathroom breaks on the way down but he didn't go at all. when he got home (3 hours later) he went to the bathroom, played and went to sleep. He sleeps in our gameroom and seems to be liking his crate a lot but we came home really late so I didn't want to close the crate until he was better acquainted. Last night he slept with the crate open but his play pen closed.
