My 2012 weight loss thread. In October im running my first 5k!!!

I'm so sick of carrying around extra weight and need to do something to keep me fit and healthy even when I'm not "dieting."

So I started the couch to 5k running plan and did my first "official" workout today.

I did 2 miles with the beasts and wanted to keep doing more!! I think I'm addicted to running. It fades all of my anger completely.

So heres to my first 5k! I'm aiming for 30 minutes or less.

I love running! Such a great stress relief! I'm doing the color run in August here. We want to train for the Spartan Race next year.

I loved 5K's ran them often until Plantar Fasciitis took me out of the running in 2007. I was a slow poke and can't remember my best time but I did finish 3rd once in my age group of 50-54.

Good luck and beware those shin splints.

Started week 2 of the running program today... Had a big (too big) lunch with a friend topped off with some yogurt land silent

So when I set out for our run today... I was planning on seriously sucking and dragging. The first interval was... bad. But after that it was no big deal. Did 2 miles with the pups and the weather was just fantastic- I wish it was like that every time we ran. The dogs love it, and so do the neighbors. I get so many stares...

I admire you, Kristina! If I had a heavy meal running or any workout is DONE for the day. I'll puke!
I need to start getting back into top shape running- I can do a 5K in a good time, but can do better- I haven't ran in two weeks though, haha. Our Color Run is mid August- I'll have like 6 weeks to shape up when I get back from vacation!

I was pics of you running with the team lmao.

Well- tried out the new sneakers! I LOVE them! Ran a quick 1.25 miles with a 12:50 mile! FASTEST TIME YET!! AHH!! Omg i'm so freaking excited. I'm really pushing for a 10 min mile before Color Run and I really think it's gonna happen!

Had Panera with a friend today for dinner. Ate half of my youpick2 and was like eugh i'm full. Packed it up and put it away for lunch tomorrow. The fact that I could stop myself and take it home is like crazy for me...

Anyway- on to more amazing news. Put in 11 miles this week! Tomorrow I start week 3 of C25K but I think i'll be fine. Running 3 mins straight is something I can totally handle now. I NEVER thought i'd say that- ever!

how?! the moment i pick up any pace - even speed walking rocky swears it's go time and begins to run as fast he would chasing a rabbit! that's awesome though i definitely want to get into running, i recently purchased a pair of nike trainers and they're awesome, i must try this c25k - without rocky though cause it'll be more like couch 2 my face on the ground.

They did that at first LOL but then they got over it... I have them in x-backs so they know it's OK to run and pull but after our initial circuit or whatever they realize it's too much effort and usually only Rodeo, Val, and Cheyenne will keep the tension. But it's totally do-able! If it wasn't for them I don't think I could have made it the first week!

C25K is an awesome app... If you're just getting started into running it really does make it so easy! I just got back from the gym and ran 3 minutes like it was nothing- I was shocked! Literally 2 weeks ago I would have been dead!

Just did first run of week 3, I don't wanna take a rest day but I should tomorrow... I was dragging a bit. I think I'm just tired.

I didn't realize until now but since starting this running program I've improved my mile by 2 minutes. I found a run I had done 2 weeks ago on another app I use which timed me at a 14:47 mile. My mile yesterday on that same path was 12:50. Seriously, I'm shocked!

You have no idea how hard it is for me to take a rest day! I feel SO guilty and completely out of routine when I do. I get in the worst mood ever! Sometimes you really do need it though. You know when your body is just drained. The way that I make myself feel better is thinking that I never REALLY take a rest day because the pups still need walks Razz

My run time is up to 6.5 minutes at a time Smile just a quick walk and I can go again. Did another 2 miles today and had an awesome dinner! I made a pizza from these wraps I now buy, added some great marinara, chicken breast, and 2% mozzarella cheese for a large personal pizza serving for only 350 calories!
