Hello!
My name is Kristan and I am new here. I am also new to the Husky breed but definitely not new to being a dog owner.
I have owned Golden Retrievers all my life. Currently I have a 3 (almost 4!) year old Golden named Buddy.
A few days ago we brought home Beau! A sweet little Husky boy. My boyfriend has raised Huskies in the past, so he is not new to the breed, and knows their temper and characteristics. Thankfully, he is prepared to raise little Beau in the best way possible so that he will be a happy and obedient Husky! We know we have a looong road ahead of us with puppy training, but we're ready and we're really hoping that my sweet Golden will help inspire Beau to be just as great as he is!
I look forward to using the forum as a reference in times of need, and to contribute in any way that I can!

Kristain beau is cute and good luck with your new lil one they are a blast to have a round and have a funny personality i love huskies

Oh, we have 2 goldens (a 12 year old and a new pup) in my house. They're absolutely amazing dogs <3. Your Beau will be too, I'm sure of it. Huskies are wonderful as well and with an experienced trainer I'm sure he'll be a gentleman

Hello and welcome. But you have me confused, how are Golden's and Huskys so different? Both are high energy, loving, friendly, and smart? I have known and had a few stubborn Goldens in my life as well. All I can say is my one year old lab loves my Balon. They are best buds! I am quite sure yours will do great with a Golden as a friend!

I suppose I could be wrong. I have only read things about Huskies being dominant and headstrong. So I've been a little nervous I want to make sure he's trained well so that he can be a happy and loving Husky. He seems to be doing well so far. Although he does NOT do well with being blocked into the kitchen at night. So I slept on the floor with him last night. He was pleased with that outcome.

Welcome! When we first got our first husky pup I slept on the floor with him when he cried too. I wouldn't start giving him his way too much and doing that. Just let him cry it out or he'll get use to you always coming when he cries and can get separation anxiety. My guy has that and it is NOT fun! Have you tried crating?

Welcome! Our huskies have goldens as their BFFs at day care! Both are high energy and play well together! Huskies do play rough, so there is always a fair amount of golden fluff on the floor!

Huskies are definitely stubborn and many show dominant traits, but consistent daily training to remind them what you expect of them makes a HUGE difference.
