Forum Rules | 1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect. 2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff. 3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned. 4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule. |

| Hey, all... long time lurker, first post. After many considerations were made, we picked this little guy up a month ago (at his eight week mark). I figure it was about time to stop lurking and start posting with the rest of the community. Might I add that while we knew what we were getting into with a Husky, nothing could have prepared us for the level of mischievousness/resourcefulness this pup had in tow... He already knows how to let himself in and out of the screen door, knows how to off the top off of an elevated feeder to claim the spoils stored within, and more (save being quick to pick up on housebreaking). I guess I just have to deal with the latter until age toughens his bladder up a bit more. He seems to be expedient at picking up on his obedience training, whereas I can show him something new and he will retain that information hours later - exception of the fact that it can sometimes be contingent on his mood or what he would rather be doing. On diet: The breeder (who was also a vet) had him on Science Diet (barf), which we phased out in favor of Orijen (which did not quite agree with him), which was ultimately phased out in favor of Taste of the Wild. I'm still in the dark based on what I'm reading here vs. what the bag states vs. what the breed eats in volume vs. other breeds vs. the "80% rule" when feeding vs. bag recommendations (for a 23LB pup). TL;DR: Glad to finally be up and posting. Looking forward to conversing more as I try to figure out how to deal with train our new little spawn from hell joy-filled demon pup. |

| Thanks for the welcome, y'all. ...and yes - they're WAY devilishly smart. I thought I dealt with a smart dog in growing up with a Cairn Terrier, but Nikolai's waaay in his own league. |

| Aww, he reminds me of my Rogue when she was a puppy!! She now has very, very faint marking around her eyes (much thinner though). What a beautiful baby! Welcome to the forum!
Dog food is complicated stuff, feel free to post in any of the topics in the nutrition subforum that may help you in figuring out what is best for Nikolai! |

Also - was planning on bringing that one to the subforum. Every bit of lurking I've done until this point has been fruitless in regards to an actual set answer to that... |
