Hi,

My husband and I are going through a divorce and the short story is that my purebred Siberian Husky named Hero will may have to given away to a new family.

In my city renters are not allowed to have pets. I am currently a renter and my husband doesn't want Hero. I am unable to get a mortgage to buy a home in order to keep Hero.

Hero is a 3 year old male who has had some training. He is always hyper and loves running, looking out the window, playing fetch, minor digging, playing in water (ie the garden hose) and could stay in the snow forever!

Hero is very skinny. He hip and ribs bones stick out a bit. He has been to the Vet many times to confirm he is doing good. He has always had his shots, deworming. He also has had stool and blood work done to confirm he is in good shape.

If I have to end up giving Hero away I would like him to go to a home that has had previous experience with a Siberian Husky.

Hero has minor training and does not get along with other dogs. He is not aggressive towards other dogs he just jumps up on them all the time and eventually he gets the "other" dogs to growl and bare teeth at Hero.

Hero requires a 1hr walk EVERY day. Hero requires an air-conditioned home as he gets very hot in the summer time. I tend to walk him at night during the summer because it gets too hot for him during the day.

Hero eats grain-free kibble from Costco (salmon/sweet potato mixture) right now. I usually change his food every 6 months from this Costco brand, to Acana (grain free) and Legacy (grain free).

Hero does not eat pork AND NO PORK SHOULD BE GIVEN TO HERO.

Hero loves eating fresh garden carrots, and asparagus.

Hero does play with toys a few times but quickly gets bored. It is good to change out his toys once in a while to keep him interested.

Hero is also crate trained and can stay in at 4 hours a time (then he needs a bathroom break). I would prefer that Hero NOT be in his cage for 8hrs/day while his owners are at work.

Hero cannot be left left alone to roam the house if no one is home because he will find things to chew on. It is good to put Hero in a cage for a few hours if you are not home.

Hero does not bark. Hero does howl on occasion like any Husky and he can howl "I love you".

Hero should not be around small children as he has not been trained around them.

Hero does not like being left alone unless he is comfortable in his cage. This also means he does not like being left alone outside either. He will whine and become destructive if he is left alone for too long outside. Hero will tell you when he wants to be let back into the house.

Hero should not be a farm dog. Because he is a husky Hero cannot be left to run outside without a leash nor without a fenced in yard. For example, Hero cannot be trusted to run free out in the farm fields.
