| Does anyone else use whistles? I got this tiny titanium deal, with no moving parts, that I now always wear around my neck on a ball chain. It's not a "dog whistle", but a "normal" human whistle - yet it is very high pitched, and only 100 dB.
From reading around the internet, I'm using it "wrong", but it has saved my sanity! I just realized I had this whistle, and blew it instead of "stop!" - and it worked instantly!
It basically does the same thing for me as Cesar Millan's "Psssshhhht!" as he "bites" their side with his claw/hand. Except it works BETTER!
My house was filled with whining and crying while crated, but all of a sudden, my entire house is quiet! Wow, what a welcome relief!
It takes a LOT less energy on my part as well. No more yelling! This is the best thing I've ever come across, and I wonder why it isn't more mainstream for training dogs.
Instead of "Come!" or "Sit!" it is "Stop whatever you're doing right this second!" and it's working beautifully. Life changing. I whole-heartedly recommend it.
Being titanium, I can even wear it in the shower, so I'll NEVER take it off. I'm hoping this means I'll never lose it. It just looks like a dark grey rod hanging on a necklace, about two inches long, and only a quarter inch around. It doesn't look like your typical whistle, it just looks like a charm on a necklace.
What are your experiences with using whistles?? I'd love to hear others' results, thanks!
EDIT: This is the whistle I'm using: Titanium Whistle
There are many others like it, and you could probably find one for le$$. |

| I don't use whistles, mainly because I would never have it on. However I don't think it really matters what whistle you use. I've seen Victoria Stillwell use a normal human whistle for training on her show too with great efficacy. I say if it works, use it!

| I was going through some boxes during a spring cleaning and found a whistle. Ofcourse I had to blow on it and Willow came running overto me and sat at my feet. I was pretty amazed! She stared at me like she was saying "what do you want me to do?". Lol! |

| The whistle being used for the "come" command seems like it would bring all the dogs in the yard. Or your dog would go to whoever has a whistle. It seems like it might be more safe to have something important like that be your voice, but I don't know.
What if a screeching car made the same pitch as your whistle? Would your dog go running toward it? I don't know. |
