| Hey guys,
Keeonah was out back playing this morning, and when she came back inside i noticed a couple of things that are sort of worrying me a bit.
First off, she was squinting some with her left eye, and that's what notified me to a potentional issue. I got her to sit right in front of me so i could inspect, and her left eye seems a little "slimy", that is to say, it looks like her body is secreting some sort of goo to maybe try to counteract whatever is going on? In addition to the mucus-y discharge around her eye, the pupil in the allegedly infected eye is very small, vs the pupil in the eye that looks completely normal which is much larger.. There are some signs of redness, and the worst looking part of the eye is the frontmost part of the almond, nearest the nose. it's pretty clear that that eye is being irritated by something. She was completely fine when I let her out to play this morning, so I am wondering if maybe she got something in her eye, like dust for example, while she was rough housing with Iris, her GSD cousin.
This is really the only issue she has every had with her health in almost 8.5 months, so i'm bugging out a little bit. I may schedule an appointment with the vet when they are open tomorrow, provided it isn't looking any better by tonight/tomorrow morning. I am hoping maybe one of you has dealt with something similar, and can point me in the right direction, or offer up tips for how to help. It does not seem to be causing her pain, she isn't messing with it at all, but she is pretty squinty.
Thanks all in advance for the help |

| I would try and flush it with some sterile saline solution. Odin will sometimes get stuff in his eyes and create problems because he likes to sit in the dirt. If the pupil size is different I would take Keeonah in to the vet tomorrow. _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! | Balon always squints in the sun, but there is no discharge. I agree with you it should be looked at by a vet. |

| 1 more vote for the vet. I'm a bit neurotic about the pups too, so I know your pain. I'm sure she just got something in her eye, but its better to be safe than sorry. I would worry more about an ulcerated cornea. She seems to be exhibiting all the common symptoms. Get it checked out, just to be sure its not deep. Let us know how it goes. |
