ok so I think the food we are feeding for some reason is now making Sierra and Jack sick, Sierra had the runs but now seems better but with Jack he started by not wanting to eat his food right away and I thought it was because we moved the crates, but even after 2 weeks he was still being picky. we started a new bag of food on the 24 I think and on Sunday night we feed them late and a few hrs later he puked up stairs all the food! I would have thought it would have been digested by then but it was not. we came home last night to puke in his cage and some grass mixed in, I think he ate it after wards as well, then at about midnight to 3am he woke us up 3xs to go outside and eat more grass. at 4:30 this morning he puked up the grass. just not sure what is wrong with him the only thing we can connect is the food as it seems to happen after he eats and only at night for some reason. I know you are suppose to mix old and new food together to get them used to it but if we think the food is the issue is it bad to switch to a new food right away? or is it something totally not related and did Sierra and Jack just catch some kind of bug? both are still acting normal, not sick.

I've heard that a particular batch of TOTW was causing this same problem. Has this all happened on the same bag of food?

If so, I would try getting a new bag first and seeing if that helps. I know you said that this is one of the only grain-free foods that you liked and that the dogs liked, so I know that switching must be difficult for you.

However, I understand if you're no longer a fan of TOTW. I would try feeding them scrambled eggs and mixing the new food with that to help the transition if you're going to switch. Normally you're supposed to ease them into it, but if their stomachs are already upset, it's not going to matter much.

well we have the food delivered to us and I have called and talked to the owner that informed me that no one else has called him about issues, the TOTW that was causing the issues was the fish one and that is not what we have been feeding. Jack started not likening the food half way through the old bag and started getting sick on the new bag. we are going to keep an eye on it today as sierra is not puking from it but her poop seems better so maybe she passed to him whatever she had? we will take them both to the vet tomorrow if he gets sick again today and have them tested for stuff. might change them to the natural balance? will see how the week goes.

Give it a little time. The fact that it was different bags and at different times leads me to believe that it might just be a bug. Animals get flus just like we do...

I agree with your plan... wait and see if Sierra continues to improve and Jack starts to get better. If so, I think it's probably just a bug. Otherwise, take them to the vet.

You've been on TOTW for months now. I'd be a bit surprised if the food all of a sudden started to cause problems. Normally that's something that would show up around the 2-3 week range of being on a new food.

Heh, good thing you're here Tori. I'm of no use with serious questions about most things. More of a bumbling fool with occasional moments of coherence.

what other foods do you have access to? Blue buffalo??? etc.....

I'm sure I could find more grain free options if I do a search around the area, the place we get the food now only caries Natural balance, and TOTW options. Jack seems back to normal today, we feed them 1/2 cup of rice with 3/4 cup cut up chicken last night and this morning and will do so the next day or two.

did you switch to raw?

I think she's just feeding a bit raw right now to settle their stomachs. I'm not sure if she plans on switching foods completely or not yet.

dang! i hate i have missed all of thos! i hope jack and sierra get to feeling better and im with the other person on here...im no help on this subject :-)
