| So my good friends moms labradoodle will be put down 6/9/12. I go over there once a week usually to hang out and Seven is a really sweet dog, always happy to see me wagging her tail and jumping around. She is only about 3 but her mom just found out she has cancer pretty bad, she is bleeding when urinating. She was always a little silly looking cause her mom cut her hair. I called her Lamb Chop because she reminded me of the sock puppet off "Lamb Chop's Play-Along" when I was a kid and I was intoxicated so it stuck. Her mom is pretty devastated to say the least, my friend doesn't know what to do and I told her there is nothing you can do about it really, unless you can cure cancer... Going to be very sad. I will probably go over and visit tonight or tomorrow to say goodbye. I know the picture is a bit ironic but it is the only one she has on facebook. |

| Condolences to your friend's mother.
Cancer is so horrible, my 5 year old son has a brain tumor which relapsed in his spine. He finished treatment 2 weeks ago, but thats still no guarantee it will be gone.
I had to put down my resque boxer cross 5 months ago, was one of the hardest decisions I could ever make, but ultimatelly it's for the benifit of the animal. It ends suffering and we always have memories.

| That is horrible, we had to put our family dog down a few years ago... I couldn't go with my mom to do it... I mean I JUST learned how to stay in the room with my dog getting anything done at the vet. I am such a wimp, I HATE seeing dogs uncomfortable or being hurt even if its in their best interest. I am getting better though and people are always like "you should be a vet" I am like huh, little do you know, just because I like animals does not mean I am fit for a vet. |

| It's hard, I went in with him, I couldnt let him go alone. I howled like a baby and I'm sure I freaked all the people in the waiting room right out, but he was like my 3rd son.
I know what you mean about the whole 'you should be a vet' thing. I had a friend who got a great dane puppy, I just mentioned to her to watch out for bloat and gave her some tips to help prevent it. She was like 'Oh wow, you know so much about animals, you should be a vet.'
Um, no! I know stuff because I research it so I can be prepared before I throw myself into something. I'd hate to commit myself to an animal and not know the first thing about how to look after it.
And just because I like dogs and cats doesnt mean I like all aminlas. I'm terrified of horses. |

| Oh, I'm so sorry for the family. We had our own Seven (of Nine) who we had to have put down in August 2010. It's been almost 2 years and I still miss her terribly every day. She was my first dog (I was a late doggie lover). They'll be in my thoughts, it's such a horrible thing to go through. |

| Aw, my heart breaks for your friend's family. That's something I had to go through with my first kitty a year ago (almost exactly) and I still get choked up when I think about him. | Doesnt make it any easier thought does it.
My sister rang up the day I brought Freya home to tell me that her 15 year old dog Jemma isnt doing real good and they are taking her to the vet. It's aweful because that dog started out as a rescue (she was thrown out of a moving vehicle on a highway), she destroyed everything from reticulation (many times) to $300 dress pants to prescription sunglasses, but after everything she turned into THE most wonderful dog imaginable. My sister has 2 biological sons, and a k9 daughter. Now she is facing the idea that she has to make a heart breaking decision to put her out of her missery. It's so hard to fight the urge to be selfish and keep them around for your own benifit, or do whats best for the animal. |

| I know what you mean about being selfish. When I had my samoyed Frosty he developed cancer and I was giving him everything the vet gave me to prolong his life. I was ready to pay $15,000 for a procedure in New Jersey. But after talking to the Vet there he said this procedure only prolongs life for about a year then the cancer returns. I don't know what I was thinking if they cannot cure cancer in humans what made me think they could in a dog. When Bob came home it just seemed like Frosty gave up. I then noticed that he could not hold his urine which was nothing but blood. Vet said it was time two days later. It still hurts when I think about it. And wonder what could I have done differently. |

| It's so sad. It's never easy to loose a friend, whether its yours or someone you knows.
My heart goes out to her, and I will be sending woo-woos to help Seven cross the bridge with friends! |
