Forum Rules | 1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect. 2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff. 3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned. 4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule. |

| Shira's a Husky that obeys! She's very obedient, but like a border collie, needs to be told what to do at all times. Shira needs a very special owner who can continue working with her resource guarding issues. She is a sweet girl but is only for an experienced owner. We pulled Shira from the NYC Brooklyn Animal Care and Control because she was labeled a Jindo mix. After we got to know Shira, it became clear she is NOT a Jindo nor a Jindo mix ** Shira is 3 year old Siberian Husky/Border Collie mix who was found abandoned after her owner died. She is a happy, friendly, energetic, sweet girl who loves belly rubs, attention and talking. Yes, that’s right. She’s very vocal like many Huskies and talks to you with woos. Shira is a dominant girl and one quickly comes to understand that Shira thinks everything in the world belongs to her. She is friendly towards other dogs but is highly dominant. We wouldn’t recommend her for a home with cats due to her high energy and excitement level when she sees a cat. Shira has completed a 2 week training course with a professional behavioral trainer. Shira need an experienced home because she still has some resource guarding issues and is extremely dominant. However, she is on a behavioral modification program and the adopter will have the chance to work with her behaviorist for a session or two to learn the program. Shira needs a lot of exercise and mental stimulation to fulfill the needs of both her breeds and would do well with agility course work. She can be off leash but has high prey drive and herding instincts. She is e-collar trained and responds very well to it, so this could be an excellent tool for off leash work. She is a natural at agility and would be a great for anyone who wants to jump right in to agility work with her. Shira needs to an active adult only home. Shira weighs approximately 40 pounds, is housebroken and crate trained. If you are interested in adopting Shira, please visit www.treasuredk9s.org and submit and adoption application. Experience with Siberian Huskies, Border Collies, Samoyeds, or other similar northern breeds is preferred. |
