PostSubject: Freya's loose bowel movements.    Freya's loose bowel movements. EmptySun Jun 03, 2012 3:28 am

Freya has been with us now for 24 hours. She was having loose bowel movments before we picked her up, the people we got her from had put her on a rice boiled chicken and innova diet., they said it should firm up in ano time.

I bought a bag of Innova puppy large breed.

I was wanting to feed her a raw diet, but after reading the ingrediants of the innova, I'm quite happy with it.

I gave Freya some lamb yesterday afternoon and she had some loose stools. I then fed her just the Innova and she was happy with that, over the next few hours her poo started thickening up.

This morning I gave her lamb with the Innova and she has had 2 very loose bowel movments. She also threw up her lamb and Innova in her crate.

She is still drinking and is happy otherwise.

Do you think it's the lamb? Should I cut the lamb out until her poos are firm for a few days and then try again?

Just my Freya's loose bowel movements. 2144500265 but I've had best results using a salmon based kibble. Has the pup been tested for worms? If not do so because it seems it always part of the problem with pups. If clear of them then try adding a wee bit of canned pumpkin to the meal. (plain pumpkin not pumpkin pie filling)

She was wormed at the vet on friday.

We dont get canned pumpkin in Australia - Not that I've seen. I cooked up some fresh pumpkin and tried to give it to her but just spat it out shaking her head.

She threw up a few times this morning, but her tummy seems top have settled, she had her last bowel movment about 2 hours ago.
She has slept most of the day (I'm not sure if it's from the loose movments draining her or from the fact that she's seperated from her litter mates 24hrs ago). But when she has been awake she has been happy and wanting to play, which I'm taking as a good sign.

Her poos are really runny, almost like liquid. She isnt dehydrated and although she doesnt wanting to eat or drink atm I've syringed some chicken broth into her which she took easily. I figured that would be better than plain water as it has some sustinance from hte chicken.

She also did a big wee about an hour and a half ago, so that tells me she's not dehydrated.

I spoke to a friend who has a 12 week old retreiver. He said that his little girl was the same on her second day with them, lathargic, not wanting to eat and had diohrea (sp). If it hasnt cleared up by tomorrow I'm taking her to the vet.
