It summer. So it's time to listen to my mom complain about my dogs making the grass yellow. I was giving them Naturvet grass saver busicutes but it's not exactly cost effective. How do you guys keep your grass from turning yellow?

we talked about this last yr..... cant find the links but i know Claudia was using the ez seed to regrow the pee spots.
there is also the pee post you can train them to us
and adding apple cider vinegar "with the mother" to the water will help as well, i think its one tablespoon a day....

We "water" our dog with a GIANT drinking glass I got from a German restaurant I went to in Pittsburgh.

Yellow Grass Glass10

It's a 1L glass. We tend to fill it and then through out the day fill Tika's bowl with it as time gos by. She drinks somewhere around 1.5Ls a day if I had to guess.

We just drop a bit less then one tablespoon into that full glass of water and she drinks it as the day goes by.

She wasn't a huge fan of it at first but she got used to it and drinks it fine.... Strangely we have our cat bowls of water a couple of steps away from Tika's..... there's no ACV in the cats water bowls and the ONLY time she will drink from theirs is if she has no water in her bowl and no one noticed.

Truth be told it will make your grass grow like a weed where they pee.... My lawnmower didn't enjoy the first cut of the season.

It's work to keep your grass from 'burning'. And it'll also cost money because with every urine burn spot, you have to rake out the burned grass and re-seed it with Scott's EZ Seed (the one for pet burns).

We also mix in 1T of unfiltered apple cider vinegar in their wet food (Honest Kitchen) which does help some, but it will only reduce the burn spots not eliminate it.

There's also this that we found that we are trying this season (in conjunction to apple cider vinegar in their food):

It's not cheap, but so far our yard looks better than last season with less work.

It ain't cheap to keep up with your lawn and it is work no matter which way you go.

Husband dragged me around to various spots in the lawn last night...pee damage. For anyone that is interested, here's the best info I have found:

Fortunately, I guess, we are having tremendous amounts of rain this spring, so I guess I don't have to worry about "irrigation" Laughing

Amy this was my thought as well, too much nitrogen causing nitrogen burn, flush the area. In all honesty, my daughters Golden was only "grass killer" we ever had around, the rest of the dogs didn't cause a problem.

it looks like the only damage was in areas where he spent winter time - I had a dickens of a time getting him to drink free water this winter - just wanted to eat snow. Finally went to feeding him 4 times a day with 3:1 water to food mixed. That seems to have taken care of things. We'll see. Right now, everything is a swamp with all the rain this spring - good for grass, bad for the kitchen floor Laughing
