| I was just bored and glancing through the county's animal shelter website (if I had a house I'd totally foster, but not possible in a one bedroom apartment) and I happened to notice that they had a county-wide list of apartments that allowed pets. I was surprised at how many had husky listed on their banned breed list, most of them beginning with "aggressive breeds, such as..."! I can't even begin to fathom why, as Faolan is just the sweetest dog, never ever has he shown any sign of being aggressive towards people or other dogs, or even cats. Anybody have an explanation?? |

| I know I heard a lot of places don't allow huskies cause they are aggressive... its funny and sad how ignorant people are about dogs.
If you want a completely worthless watch dog/aggressive dog... Husky is pretty high up on that list.

| There have been people in the past getting this breed and doing stuff they shouldn't, abuse of whatever, that turns out making them bad apples to the breed. Also people not observing their dogs and putting way too much faith into them when kids/babies/toddlers are around. Both my girls were aggressive when I got them, mika was more scared reaction aggression and cali was just I RULE THE WORLD aggression. Both girls were abused in previous homes. Another thing I have learned is that there is nothing standard when it comes to this breed. |

| But that could be any breed! I dunno, maybe I am just thinking too logically and that's why I'm having such a hard time comprehending the "aggressive" label on huskies...though I do understand the pitt bull/rottweiler label, because they've been publicized a lot as being aggressive. Afaik, huskies haven't been publicized that way, though. |

| Idk know what you guys are talking about they are ridiculously aggressive. I mean you don't pet them enough they'll shove their head into you for an hour. If you are gone for 10 seconds they'll go crazy jumping all over the place. If they see a squirrel they will knock you down getting to it! Mine will stare me in the face and growl at me just cuz she isn't getting enough attention. I could go on for hours but I I think it's pretty apparent they are "aggressive" |

| haha. I wonder if that's why they are considered aggressive too, they do sound really mean... Kiara sounds like shes going to attack me and bite my head off when I annoy her but she would never. |

| I heard a lot of apartments have huskies on their list because of being high energy and destructive nature. never because they are aggressive. Huskies might have been mistaken for malamutes because some malamutes have same sex aggression or food aggression. That is sad that those apartments are ignorant, because I have never seen a husky or mal be aggressive to another human only some mals with the same sex aggression. Out here in california, huskies are on the restricted list on renters insurance of AAA because of their high energy. It is funny because malamutes aren't on the list. |

| I actually did see some pretty aggressive Huskies over the weekend, but that was 150% the result of poor socialization by their BYB owner. It was blatantly obvious. The real problem is that there are a lot of idiots out there who have no business owning dogs because they have no idea how to handle them. I've seen a couple lists now that listed Huskies as the #4 most dangerous dog, which we all know is a load of garbage. In 2009, there were 2 documented cases of Huskies mauling infants to death, but that's solely because no small child should EVER be left unattended with any dog, and that was the case in both of those instances. What you don't see much is the fact that there were also 2 infants mauled to death by Jack Russels.
Brady, you're absolutely right with the small dogs being more aggressive, and it's pretty well documented if you google "most aggressive dogs". But as you said, they're small and "cute", so people ignore the behavior. It sucks a lot that the dogs get blamed to the point of BSL because their owners are too stupid to train and socialize them, and unfortunately in the end it's the big dogs that get the worst labels. That's why Huskies get labelled as aggressive, that and the fact that an obscene percentage of people out there think they're wolves. _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | lol every time I go to the dog park and hear people comment on Kiara, I can't tell you how many times I hear the word wolf to describe Kiara and I want to wash their mouth out with soap. I am just like ... I lived w a Jack Russell and he was the spawn of Satan... He is SO mean to strangers and if other dogs don't let him hump them he attacks them, he was SO rough w kiara, latch onto her throat and shake back and forth.. Kiara would hurt him occasionally when he was over the top ruff but still he would run full speed and plow into her neck. In my experience, terriers and pit bulls at the dog park are a lot of times the cause of fights and being little A-holes. I know they ALL aren't that way and its the owners fault or previous owners but still, my largest pet peeve is people bringing their mean dogs to the park, it gets my blood boiling. Especially when they sit there like nothing is happening. |

| We had a thread about this once before and the article on that thread said it was their prey drive that put them on the list despite their friendliness to people. I should look for that thread... |

My in laws have 2, and they both qualify as spawn of satan. One of them seriously tried to kill my cat. No joke, we struggled to pull her away from him. _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | Yea, I had to do the same when someone brought their small dog in... It wouldnt let him hump her and he started attacking her big time... He owns a car wash and keeps his dog in his office w a baby gate (customers aren't suppose to go into the office area) but some people do, and has a beware of dog sign up but he has bit a couple people pretty badly... but people are idiots... his dog is not shy about showing he is mean... growling and barking and snarling and they go to pet him anyway... I wonder how some people make it through life. |

| These lists are usually compiled from real statistics of dog bites that lead to human fatalities. I believe that there are many states where the cost of your homeowner's insurance will be increased if you own one of these "aggressive" dogs. I believe Huskies are on these lists for one of at least three reasons: 1) The aggressive dog is a mix breed or another breed entirely but has a "husky-look", 2) The aggressive dog has been abused or poorly socialized (like Meredith said) or 3) The owner left an unsupervised dog alone with an infant or very small child.
Small dogs are not on these lists because most of their bites do not lead to human deaths. We have a home down the street with two Rat Terriers. They are the meanest dogs in the neighborhood! Hubby call them the "Pimples" because they have black heads... Very rude, but very funny!!! |

| The most aggressive dog I've ever seen was a Chihuahua/Poodle that my neighbors in Oklahoma allowed to roam the neighborhood. That dog bit everyone who came anywhere near it, and would growl if you even looked at it. The neighbor's response after it bit the crap out of my hand (was getting it away from the small children it was biting): "it's a dog, that's what they do!".
They got a $70 ticket from animal control, signed by me, the next day. I then proceeded to clean out my garage enough to keep my brand new Camaro in until I moved out of that house... _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | When people get bit by a small dog instead of saying it's cute you make a police report or call AC. No matter how minor the bite next time it could be a baby. When people start making reports and then next thing you know the bad dog list starts to get very long full of big and small dogs. Then they will have to get rid of the list because all dog breeds big and small will be listed on there. |

| I was just thinking if these breeds of dogs are so aggressive then why do some many people own them happily with no problems. I mean I bet(not factual at all) that for every 1 "aggressive breed dog" that does bite someone there are 20 that go there whole life fine. I also bet that out of every 100 dogs, continuing from previous bet, that only 1 of the 5 that bit someone was actually just being aggressive for the sake of being aggressive. Some dogs are very territorial and I think that the owner is to blame most of the time.
But I can see how they can't know if a owner is a good owner or not... |

Lisa is correct, sibes are on aggressive breed lists because of reported annual bite records. _________________ |

| Regardless of the size of the bite, every dog can pass disease and apartment buildings should be wary to accept all "aggressive" breeds, not just the big ones. My parents are Schnauzer breeders, so we come in contact with BYB and rescue schnauzers a lot. Many of these dogs are VERY aggressive, protective and dominant. Of all the huskies I have met, rescues and puppies, none of them were human aggressive whatsoever. But, that's just my 2 cents. |

| The truth is, any breed of dog has the ability to be aggressive. This is why it's unfair to label a particular breed as being "aggressive" or "dangerous." I have never met a husky who was not friendly towards people. I have, however, seen huskies act like "bullies" with other dogs, because they play a lot rougher than other dogs play. I have also seen a lot of huskies who were food aggressive or possession aggressive or who were not good with small dogs/cats, due to their high prey drive. But, again, any dog can display aggression. I hate how people look at huskies...when I walk my boy, who is only 6.5 months, you wouldn't believe the stares/glares and fear that people have about a puppy! This is just plain ignorance. You also wouldn't believe how many people shout out "wolf" when I walk my dog...granted, he looks more like a wolf than he looks like a husky. But, my boy is so friendly with people and would never intentionally hurt another human being...unless they tried to take away his food. His food is off limits! |

| Yea kiara out of the countless times has fraught a dog twice. Most the time she's bullied and pinned down and just lays there. She doesn't care about balls at all but twice w a certain dog the ball was between them and for some reason it was the right place, right time, right dog. They both froze for like 30 seconds motionless staring at eachother w the ball between them and as soon as one made a move for the ball a brawl broke out. I was right there I I grabber her and pulled her off and they were totally fine after but it's odd how it's happen a couple times w a tennis ball at the park when she doesbt even care for them. |
