Ruby is 11 months old and 56 lbs so she will be on the smaller side. The vet said she will continue to grow until she is about 2 as they are slow to grow so she may reach about 60 lbs lol. But we think she is gorgeous, will post current picture later today.

Word to the wise of my experience with chocolate labs. They need as much if not more exercise then a Husky. Just about every chocolate lab I've come across with end up looking like a barrel with skinny legs. (they get real fat if allowed to) They just seem more prone to obesity then black labs.

Ruby is beautiful! I almost went for a chocolate lab when I decided to get a second dog two years ago but I just couldn't stray away from huskies.

HAHA that is funny, I don't think any color is more prone to obesity then any other color, I have seen fat labs of all colors. I have grown up with labs, and I can tell you from experience that most labs will eat until they pop! That is why Ruby has been on Adult weight control formula since she was 5 months old, and she gets only 2 cups a day. That coupled with roughhousing and running around with my three sons in her yard keeps her at a good weight. I could write a book with the comments I have heard regarding the different colors of labs, blacks are more hyper, chocolates are fatter, yellows are nicer, it has nothing to do with color. It's genetics, and the way they are fed and raised. But you are correct that labs need as much exercise as husky, which is why I got a husky, wanted something with similar exercise requirements.

When I got Balon someone told me that red/white huskys are bigger then any other color! Don't buy that one either. Laughing

She's beautiful! I have always favored chocolate labs. As a kid we had a black lab that was the sweetest dog!
