Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

I'm very bad at it lol. When she blows her coat I usually like to get it professionally done, I don't like using that brush that much.

I'm the same way. I will brush my girls out, but when it is coat blowing time, I just take them to my groomer and get it done.

The furminator doesn't rip if you don't press hard. I just lightly pull it across khuno's fur, but only after i take a comb and straighten it all first. Khuno loves the thing haha

I can never understand how they still have fur.

I'm lucky, my mother is a groomer. So, I never have to pay to get Delilah de-shedded.

I just brush until my arm is sore. Pretty much does the job.

Not to brag or anything but.....Willow's shedding is very minimul! It must be her sleek coat. Dakota was so fluffy, it took months to blow his coat! I'm pretty shocked with how different the shedding is between the two. Aspen hasn't started her coat blow yet so I have no idea how bad she will be but her coat is still much less fluffy than my Dakota was.

Not to upset you, but by trade I am a certified Dog Groomer, My Price to do a husky, Including Bath,Blow out and a hour long brush out(Trying to remove all the lose/dead hair) along with Nail clip and ear cleaning was $85, Since you all own huskies you know how much work goes into trying to get the hair decent, especially during blow out season. This was normally a 4 hour long process.

I keep hearing of the furminator, you know that the rake works wonders to and it does not pull the hair, also a regular metal dog comb. As A groomer I would never use the furminator, it can cut your dog very badly if you do not know what you are doing.

It's more than just cutting your dog...I could never get that close to e skin with my dogs coats. It's the fact that it tears up the coat.

I found a groomer here where I'm at that charges 25. She's one of the army wives here just trying to make extra money to help out. I was paying about 60 at the vets office. If I had the equipment I would just do it myself but it would take a team of people to get Bandit all done up haha. That is one awesome thing about my rat terrier...I just put him in the tub and can hold him down with one hand and bathe him easy peasy.

I get it done at a specific petsuper for $35. I push for that price because thats what I used to pay when she was a pup. I make myself oblivious and be all like "$35 right?idk, thats what I payed last time" and they kinda hesitate and then say okay lol. But atleast shiva is a short coated husky so its not too bad. Just the blowing this time around is has been frustrating for the first time.
