| I have both my Huskies on raw (Hayden 7 months Nicky 9 weeks). Nicky has been on raw since she was 4 weeks old and I'm having a little bit of difficulty with the diet. Right now, I'm mainly feeding them chicken quarters and every now and then I'll give them ground pork, beef, lamb, or bison (no organs yet). I noticed that Nicky is starting to lick/eat rocks & wood. I wasn't sure if that was because she was maybe lacking nutrition with the diet I'm feeding her. She's eating twice a day (1.5- 2 lbs a day) and getting plenty of exercise & water. I saw a video of another Husky who ate/licked rock and it was because of a iron deficiency, so it has me a little concerned. Any suggestions on my menu, should I add anything or decrease something? |

| I am not sure I beleive that dogs lick rocks because of a deficiency, although, wihout any organs, I would almost garuntee that they are not getting correct nutritional needs. I am no expert on raw, but after 3 weeks, I would think that you could introduce a small amount of organ? |

| That's what I'm thinking too ... I'm just not sure which is the best starting organ and how much to give. I was reading that too much organ isn't good and how often I should give it to her. |

| While I have no solid answers I would give organ meat a try and see if that helps any. You should be trying to incorporate them at this time.
It could also just be a puppy being a puppy! _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! Join our facebook meetup group! |

| We give (beef and chicken) liver and (beef) kidney as organs. We've noticed that both of ours go after plants more often now, but the basic consensus was that their idea of "sweet" has changed, now that they're off kibble. They don't eat all grass, or large amounts, but they will sniff around until they find the perfect blade of grass and then eat that one. This also goes for certain flowering bushes, and sticks.
If the dogs go after any rocks to lick them, it may be a deficiency, but if they always seem to go after the same rock, or the same spot on the rock, it's possible that there was something there that they like the smell of, and it has nothing to do with the fact that it's a rock. |

| Coquito's favorite past time is chewing on twigs. Ginger looks at twigs and pays them no mind yet they eat the same food. Coquito i now almost 6 months old and is growing his adult teeth. Which as i understand makes them want to bite stuff to stimulate the gums just like babies. |

How often do you give the liver? They lick all rock's. They eat grass like grazing cow's too lol |

| I try to give a chunk of liver every week, before their dinner, the day after starve day. Neither of our dogs really want to go after the liver, so we have to make sure they are plenty hungry before we give it to them. I've also tried hiding it under the skin of a piece of chicken, which has mixed results.
I've heard mixed opinions on whether it counts the same way, but we also give dehydrated liver chunks as training treats. |
