| I was just wondering what you guys have fed puppies? We have Cato on Kibble, but I am still a little unsure about the amount I should be giving him.
Would love your input! |

| I had Kale on regular Blue Buffalo consistently throughout his puppyhood and he had soft stools most of the time, switched him to Taste of the Wild all life stages at 7 months and he hasn't had a problem since. (unless he eats cat poop) I usually switched flavors every bag and he did great with a slow 1 1/2 week transition. ETA- He is currently still on Taste of the Wild (High Prairie Formula)

| Bella went from Pro Plan to Blue Buffalo to Purina GI to Hills Science Diet W/D to Holistic Select and finally Taste of the Wild.
From the switch to Blue Buffalo she had diarrhea for 2 months until I switched her to Holistic Select and then slowly (like 2 1/2 weeks) took her off of Holistic Select to Taste of the Wild. _________________ |

| I started Keeonah on Flint River Ranch kibble, which was advertised as appropriate for all life stages at 8.5 weeks. The grain in the formula upset Keeonah's stomach and she had "pudding poo" for about the first month or 2 i had her. I eventually switched to TOTW, and have never had a problem since. I alternate between the Pacific Stream and Wetlands varieties (what would a wolf eat? ). Solid stools and her coat is very shiny |

| Puppies need a higher caloric intake than adult dogs to support their growth. If Cato is happy, growing like he should be, and healthy you're probably feeding him enough. If he seems skinny or never satisfied, you might want to consider giving a little bit more. |

exactly. every dog is different. there is no magic amount. Some days Keeonah gets more, some days she gets less. If she looks healthy, acts happy, then we know we are close |

| Luna was on Orijen Puppy Large. She was on a cup and a 1/4 in the morning and night. 2.5 Cups per-day
Now that she's not a puppy anymore she's on Orijen 6-Fish. 1 cup in the morning and night. 2 Cups per-day
Her coat is amazing. So soft and shiny the Vet complimented her on Monday. |

| So Cato has been getting 3 cups of Acana Wild Prairie daily - in 3 separate feedings. My concern is that he is so darn skinny. Am I underfeeding him? |

| He looks a bit skinny to me, but I'm no expert. My Balon is a bit underweight too. |

| It seems like every Husky I've had from a young age has always been on the skinnier side. How are his stools? As long as they're formed and not runny you could try upping the amount just 1/4 cup but 3 cups spread over 3 feelings sounds more than sufficient for a young puppy. _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! | He looks a lot like Ghost did at that age, and our vet said she was staying at an ideal weight for her size. I never worried about her as long as I could feel but not see the ribs, and if it looked like she was getting a little skinny or like she was hungry all the time I'd up it a little. _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | Phew you guys are making me feel a little better. He doesn't seem hungry and believe me he lets you know when he is ready for another meal...little bugger. His stool is formed and firm, not runny at all.
We are on Acana Wild Prairie. They love it. We have a vet appointment on Thursday so I'll let you guys know what happens. |
